Just Flight's Viscount

Featured Replies

Just bought JF's Viscount. What a disaster. Regret buying it now, even if it was cheap in a sale.

  • For starters, the VC panel is...........least said the best. All those advocating a 3D panel above a 2D panel....again, least said the best. What a joke!
  • With my MS ForceFeedback joystick throttle fully retarded, this plane has a mind of it own and still just trundles off.
  • And no matter where I have looked for it, the parking brake cannot be found, so I cannot park it.Anyone any ideas where this is?

I think this joke aircraft is going to be written-off as a 'Bad Buy' and will remain dumped in a corner of my hangar.

Even Rick Piper's FS2004 version was far better than this!

Hey vc10man, i guess you haven't the faintest idea of how much work and effort goes into

developing an FSX VC. It'll make your hair turn gray faster than you can say " What a joke! "

Why so harsh ?.... You can't expect every commercial FSX dev to produce models that match

the top quality of the likes of A2A, PMDG, CS, RealAir, Carenado or Aerosoft. We should be

glad that atleast JF has an eye for the niche market of vintage propliners. Certainly regarding

native FSX models.

( why A2A choosed the butt ugly B377 as subject of their extraordinairy amazing rendition

of a vintage propliner and not the Constellation will probabely go down as one of the most

intriguing mysteries in FS history )

About taxiing the Viscount, start up only #2 and #3 and shut down #1 and #4 after landing.

Default Parking Brake key combination is Ctrl/. ( you're right, a clickable PB seems to have

been overlooked )

Apart from the fact that the VC is a combination of various Viscount versions I don't think

it's that bad at all.

cheers,

jan

vc10man,

If you didn't like that you should have a look at MajesticSoftware's Dash-8-300 virtual cockpit for FSX. I concede that it's not a fair comparison because it's a FS2004...FS2002 port?, but it's pretty bad. Though I love what Majestic Software as built in their Dash-8-300, and I want to buy more from them. :) It is the best Dash-8 available right now. I can't wait for the Q400 to get released!

I took a look at the plane you mentioned, Just Flight's Vickers Viscount. It's not the best looking VC, I'll give you that. The plane doesn't look all that bad. I'd buy it for no more than $10. It looks like a budget or small team production based on the screen shots.

The Vickers VIscount could still be a good buy for someone really looking to fly it. The Dash-8 I mentioned earlier looks terrible as an FSX plane, but I still enjoy flying it. I'd recommend it with a heads up about the VC quality.

Thank you for your views, and the tips to engage the PB and engines sequence, though not to have a clickable or visible parking brake is rather poor indeed.

Despite having the class and quality of aircraft from the developers listed, I was far from expecting that this particular aircraft would be in the same class or quality.

Yes, indeed, A2A chose a much older aircraft than the Viscount, and moreover,it is a much older development, and yet they can come up with a blockbuster, given the size of that developer compared to JF. And no, I was not expecting a VC to match the A2A or any other aircraft, but was expecting something that was a much latter development, to be a bit better.

All I can say is thank heavens I did not buy it at full price when released. I know this much, I will definitely be steering away from any JF products.

I quite like the JF Viscount. I'm not massively keen on the external texturing, but it seems to fly okay, the sounds are good and the VC is okay, if not spectacular. Using some JF loyalty points, I think I paid about 17 quid for it, which I thought was okay for what it is, although I'll definitely be redoing the textures to batter it up a bit, since as it stands they are way too clean.

Hi,

I agree with VC10man, this Viscount is not the best addon.

Some of the proportions of the fuselage are wrong. Why all this smoke on engine start up? Rolls Royce Darts did not smoke like that.

Like some of you noticed, the Flightdeck is strange mixture of the ones in the Viscount 700 and various 800 variants. What I like though, is the VW airport bus.

But all in all, it is a badly researched rendition of the Viscount, not at all comparable with the FS9 freeware version.

Best Regards,

Anders

I didn't buy this one, because I now know what to expect in terms of vc quality from this developer (Aeroplane Heaven). I assume I made the right decision then, based on the above comments. I also usually find that screenshots and video are a very helpful indication of what to expect.

I'm personally not interested in hearing how much time and effort has gone into creating a vc,. I'm more interested in what the final product is like and if A2A, Carenado, PMDG, Aerosoft etc are already setting a very high standard, then anything less than that isn't acceptable to me, even if it's very cheap - or even free!

I read all the reviews and checked the screenshots. The external model put me off more than anything even though I'm not a big "eye-candy" geek.

I'm still happy flying Rick Pipers free HS 748. Great airfile, fab sounds, nice external model and functional VC.

I'm personally not interested in hearing how much time and effort has gone into creating a vc,.

I was not talking to you, frogboy, so personally i am not interested in hearing that you are not interested in hearing how much time and effort goes into creating a VC. But you're right of course. Who cares. Nothing wrong with calling someone's months of hard work a joke. You bet he must've been laughing all the way thru it.

FSX aircraft designer while creating a VC : :LMAO:
