FSX source code available for purchase?

Featured Replies

I tried to post this inquiry before, but got a forum/web site error.

Does anyone have a contact in regards to the purchase of FSX source code? Or someone that might be able to point me in the right direction?

It is not available, period. Lockheed-Martin has an exclusive license agreement with Microsoft for the ESP (FSX) source code...

Although never revealed, I suspect that the license fee was (is) in the seven figures anyway... :LMAO:

Yup! I would tend to agree with that estimate, Bill!

But didn´t Microsoft intend to sell the FSX source code and via this ESP thing?

Best regards, Steffen

Thanks for the responses.

It does indeed look like Prepar3D is still alive with v1.3 released in March 2012 ... not great news from my perspective. Getting contacts was very difficult, but there is a possibility of obtaining "parts" of the source code for much less than 7 digits ;) -- which is fine, didn't really want the entire set as it would probably take many years to figure it out vs. starting a new. Primarily interested in conversion of data so that some (not all) existing 3rd party products can be used.

Northrop Grumman also purchased ESP (the Information Systems Sector if my memory serves). Though I am not sure they ever did anything with it. My assumption is that when ACES was disbanded, NGC/IS pretty much lost interest.

Tom, I don't believe that particular license included the actual source code, but rather allowed them to bundle the run time components into their own unique solution packages for sale and distribution to clients, or for their own in-house use.
