May 31, 201214 yr An idea hit me today as I was watching the Air Stairs unfold to the tarmack. They came to a stop and I thought, hmm..be kind of neat if one could see passengers disembarking the aircraft. Perhaps in a future aircraft? Just a thought :-) Ed Ed Burton www.737ngxca.com
June 1, 201214 yr I don't see an issue with it, GSX has moving people and is not a frame hit. Alex Jevdic --- KORD A<380-----Love at first flight
June 1, 201214 yr I don't see an issue with it, GSX has moving people and is not a frame hit. I do not believe GSX simulates the departure of people from the aircraft, just the ground crew and people who work around the aircraft, if I am not mistaken. The problem with this request is that it is simply not needed, this is being overdone now ; I swear some persons just want to push their ideas so they can be praised if proved plausible. Or maybe I am taking a harsh outlook on things :Waiting: .
June 1, 201214 yr Author I have to agree, it's not needed, just purely eye candy, and I'm not looking for praise , lol, was just an idle thought I had as I was watching the airstairs unfold in Innsbruck, and after that, I decided to open the door...but I thought, why am I opening the door? Nobody will exit.nobody will enter.so..what was the point.of the stairs and the opening door? Eye candy lol Perhaps I was out there in left field with this one, but if I was, it was with the effects of added realism in mind. Anyway, cheers to all :-) Ed Burton www.737ngxca.com

The opening of the door, is basically almost always for eyecandy, or for following procedures sake. There are some programs that will require you to open doors to begin the 'boarding of passengers,' so the door opening can actually be a functional unit of the flight.
June 1, 201214 yr I personally would rather have the time developing the various people's and there luggage spent on other projects such as the 777 or 747. When the day comes to an end, this aircraft is used to simulate the operations of the aircraft itself, not that of an airport. Oliver Cooksey Owner of the PMDG 737, 747 and Majestic Q400.
June 1, 201214 yr I don't see an issue with it, GSX has moving people and is not a frame hit. On the GSX fora FSDT has stated that adding moving passengers to GSX would create an unacceptable frame hit, at least if they were animated in the same way the current moving people in GSX are. June 1, 201214 yr Both FSDT GSX and AeroSoft AES has taking FS to another level with the work they have done by adding ground crews and other things like that to up the realism. Now to add passengers, that is something I don't know about. It might be good for some, maybe for the videos and such, but if you are using a PMDG product, most of the time will be up front prepping the aircraft for departure or shutting it down. For right now, I like things the way they are. Could it happen down the road, who knows. We just have to wait and see. Kelvie Smith A&P Mechanic FSX Pilot

Or maybe I am taking a harsh outlook on things :Waiting: . I know what GSX simulates as I use it primarily for pushback which is its most valuable tool. Just because something isn't needed that doesn't mean that it won't be neat to have or that others won't enjoy it. Alex Jevdic --- KORD A<380-----Love at first flight
June 2, 201214 yr Just because something isn't needed that doesn't mean that it won't be neat to have or that others won't enjoy it. Hello, I agree. However I just think more time can be spent modelling other things besides this.
June 2, 201214 yr Well, modeling different things for fsx isn't a zero-sum proposition - modeling one thing doesn't mean another thing won't be, anymore than ORBX modeling Jackson Hole takes away from PMDG modeling a 777. The question is what is the interest, and is it feasible. I use GSX also, and much of it is eye candy anyway, the 'candy' part being the operative word - a 'treat' that isn't really necessary, but appealing nonetheless. As I almost always use a jetway, I wouldn't have much use for passenger animations, but I can see how it would have an appeal, especially if it came at a low cost in terms of price and performance. Is it much 'sillier' than testing an oxygen system pre-simulated flight, or having functioning cargo doors? I don't think taking enjoyment in watching sim passengers disembark from your sim plane after a sim landing in a sim storm after a sim flight is so easily dismissed. June 2, 201214 yr ORBX is modelling people walking around their airports, so I suppose it's feasible. As for whether it would result in a large, small (or zero) impact on FPS, I cannot say. Nice idea, though! Matthew Bellette
June 2, 201214 yr Just as with everything, things will advance to the point where it is feasible but not for a short time yet. I mean look at the days of ProjectAI with their frame heavy models, that were then surpassed by the likes is AIAardvark with their much better looking and frame friendly models. It will be possible in the future, but it will be down to the likes of AES & GSX to implement in however they can. I don't expect anything too drastic for a while yet however.
