June 4, 201214 yr Hello Lucas, I've had this happen to me also, where the AP fails to engage after lif off, (400 feet + on the RA) just a instant blink of the green and that's it. I've almost always managed to get it working sometime later on in the flight though after hand flying the departure. I've been experimenting with it and found that if I keep the FD bars aligned closely after lift off it seems to help, I think doing that for me, ensured my controls were not interfering with the AP. Having said that though, I've also pressed control-k right after takeoff and still sometimes I had issues, so what I've found works most consistantly for me is to ensure FD bars are closely aligned at 400 feet plus. Hope this might help a bit. Ed Burton www.737ngxca.com
June 4, 201214 yr Author Ok thank you guys for your answers. I will consider all those tips here for my next flight Lukas Dalton
June 5, 201214 yr One word "TRIM" make sure you rotate your trim on your hardware little at a time keep hitting the AP switch you will find that sweet spot watch the AP will come on, give it a try bet it works. When you find that sweet spot leave it there while flying NGX you will probablly move it again for other aircraft so remeber that spot if possible for future use of the famous NGX. Rich Sennett
June 5, 201214 yr Just a shot in the dark, but is the CWS mode working? I often get the CWS mode before I'm able to turn the AP on... The only time I've experienced the AP problem that you gave described is when I've simulated an engine failure. Kristof Barocz
June 5, 201213 yr I have had the same problem at times. My solution was to jiggle the joystick a little and then it seems to come on with not problem. CaptMac donmcdaniel
June 5, 201213 yr Author I dont know about this CWS thing to be honest. I never turned it on intentionaly at least. Lukas Dalton
June 6, 201213 yr From your first picture, I can make out that you are not flying the flight director... The two bars should be centred. You are currently below the commanded pitch, and over the commanded speed as a result. Autopilot should be engaged when the FD bars (when using the crosshair version of FD) are centred and the aircraft is then trimmed out so that you have no pressure required on the control column... June 6, 201213 yr Author never paid attention to this FD thing. I thought without realistic AP engagement this shouldn have any effect... Lukas Dalton

This works for me!!!
July 15, 201312 yr Your welcome glad it worked for you, thanks for the update helps other also. :good: Rich Sennett
March 21, 201412 yr Hi guys, Remember that a condition in 737 NGX to engage autopilot is to be correctly trimmed ! As explained above, if you apply a pressure to the control stick, it won't engage. Sometimes for unknown reason, when you start the engines and you prepare to take off, you will observe that ailerons are not centered. In these conditions, it will be impossible to engage cmd A after take off. Good luck
