How could such a beauty end up here?...

Aviation took a giant leap backwards when the Concorde was scrapped; you'd have thought the US, Brit and French governments would have had the foresight to take over a couple each and stored them, ready to jet top politicians to worldwide crisis summits.

I mean, an Air Force One Boeing 747 takes about 7 hours NY to London, whereas Concorde could do it in 3.

And a Skype link does it in several seconds ;). If a conference can wait 3 hours for an Atlantic crossing, it can wait 7 and not have to worry about blowing out the windows of a large number of voters when flying overland.

I expect that Concorde's interior wouldn't have enough space for all the aides, secretaries and PAs, not to mention press, to move around in.

What does slightly surprise me is that Donald Trump didn't get one (gold plated), just for the hell of it :Just Kidding:

Ah, but would say Putin start World War 3 on the strength of a Skype link or any other kind of video link that might be faked, especially if it was grainy with poor sound quality? (The Mission Impossible team were good at that sort of fakery in the TV series)

But if Obama arrived in person in Moscow by Concorde to urge Putin to launch a joint blitz against Iran, Putin would listen..:)

Washington to Moscow by 747 would take about 12 hours, but Concorde could have done it in about 6, and when the world is teetering on the brink of nuclear Armageddon every hour counts.

Also, if enemy fighters and SAMs were around, Conc would be harder to shoot down than a lumbering 747.

20 Concs were built and like i said it's a pity the Major Powers didn't keep a couple each in storage against Armageddon, as maintenance costs would have been non-existent, they could have just thrown a dust cover over them in a sealed hangar..;)

Plenty of Concs still fly in FS2004/FSX like this one-

Had the pleasure of seeing Concorde in New York in April and it looked absolutely fantastic, was a little hard to get a photo with what with all of the bollards and fences around but beautiful to behold none the less. Could not however get tickets to go inside as the museum visit was a bit last minute. That means I have seen the BA one on NY, the original test variant in Duxford UK, and hopefully soon again the BA variant based here in Manchester.

I can't say what makes any aircraft is beautiful bt the Concorde s definitely close to it.

Yes mate at least we can proudly tell our grandkids "I saw Concorde flying!"..:)

We'll probably never see her like again..

Mark Antony (pointing to his friend Caesar's dead body)- "Here was a Caesar!!! When comes such another??"

Enraged Citizens- "Never!! Never!!"

(from Shakesp's J. Caesar)

I was lucky enough to see the Concorde stored at Boeing Field flying it's last flight. It made quite a racket flying around Seattle.
