June 20, 201213 yr Well, the learning continues. Decided to spend some quality time in the RA Legacy first doing some pattern work and then testing out hand flying an LPV approach coming back in to KBVS. Lovely... just lovely. But as the picture shows... I had to some work cut out to slow down a bit! Then again, I am sure controllers would love to see GA birds coming in fast like that. Gotta love those speed brakes. Thanks to: RealAir, ORBX, REX, RXP and AS2012 for this shot. Bryan K.Ottawa, CanadaCurrent virtual hangar: Flight1 BN2 Islander, A2A C182, A2A C172, Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended
June 20, 201213 yr Nice haze. And that thing is sometimes impossible to slow down indeed Cheers, George.
June 21, 201213 yr That is just a stunning pic. What does AS2012 add that REX doesn't? Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
June 21, 201213 yr Author That is just a stunning pic. What does AS2012 add that REX doesn't? I run the REXE textures with the AS2012 weather engine. It's a personal thing. Bryan K.Ottawa, CanadaCurrent virtual hangar: Flight1 BN2 Islander, A2A C182, A2A C172, Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended
June 21, 201213 yr One thing I've always been frustrated with on FS (all versions) is the lack of air movement that is almost always present during the day in the real world. You're flying along and pass under a cloud and your aircraft starts to descend in a light downdraft. You get to the other side of the cloud and it wants to climb. Sometimes it's a little gust that blows one of your wings up. It's a game of fairly constant minor correction. I keep wondering if there's a weather package that even comes close. That's why I was asking. I have REX Essentials...just got it...but I haven't studied to see how well it might or might not work with that...a bit busy. Just wondering if Active Sky has anything like that. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
June 21, 201213 yr Great shot Bryan, I love the wing vibration when you apply the speed brakes, pretty cool. Just wondering if Active Sky has anything like that. I found the REXE engine did a better job with that. A more "live" environment. I also liked the visuals better in terms of cloud layering, haze etc. Fully adjustable as well. I use Active Sky for high altitude airliner flights as the DWC works well and I can pull weather into FSBuild. I got the RealAir last night and did some circuits. Very nice indeed! I love the night lighting. If you haven't already done so, try a landing at night; landing lights are very cool! Jim Shield Cybersecurity Specialist
