PMDG or Arianne

Featured Replies

HiI`ve been thinking of getting the PMDG NG but someone sent me a link to the Arianne site and boy their offering sure looks nice.Since it seems that the PMDG seems to have some small problems right now as well as the cost of getting the 800/900 I`m wondering if it would be worth it to wait and check out the Arianne model?I woud appreciate any thoughts that anyone might have as weather to wait or not. Also is it true that to get the full feel of wondering around the cabin in the PMDG NG you need to buy another addon for FS2004?Thank You

PMDG. If you knew the history of Arianne then you would want to stay clear of such a criminal orginization.

PMDG for sure. (Just do a search and a little homework on Ariane and I think you'll change your mind about buying anything from that group). The PMDG 737 is simply the best airliner add-on ever for any version of of MSFS. I think it's even better than the legendary PIC 767 that so many of us flew for so many years. Try it, you'll like it.Doug

Hello 'Aeroplane Boy' (with no real name or User Profile....)It's become quite usual for Tishma (a.k.a. Ariane) to either post himself (or get someone else to on his behalf) asking general 'questions' about his products shortly before they're released in a pathetic attempt to try and generate interest. That said, if this is a genuine question, I suggest you read the recent threads regarding PMDG and Ariane (a quick name search will find the threads), together with an archive search on Peter Tishma and Ariane on Avsim's front page, and I'm sure you'll find all the answers you need.Toni.

It's your money, you do with it what you wish. PMDG is brilliant, however the Ariane 737-300, -400 and -500 are excellent, and great on the frames. The analog 737 panel is really cool and I use it with my FFX and SGA planes as well. There may be a history there about Ariane, but I think it's in the past. The time for griping is long gone. I don't question all the complaints against Microsoft (and believe me there are tons of complaints) everytime I use Windows or buy a new version of Flight Simulator.Bottom line, if you like the product, it's your choice and your right to purchase whatever you would like.Lee

There is a third choice. Turns out that Dreamfleet is also going to be doing an NG after their present projects. (727, 737-200, 737-300, 737-400, 737-500, ATR). Given the length of time they take however, I wouldn't look for that NG until maybe we're into the second year of FS2006 at least. Just check their forums where Lou himself said that we need to be "VERY PATIENT" for that NG.Do a search on the forums here and you'll see why a lot of people want to stay away from Ariane and Bobo/Peter Tishma/whatever other alias he goes by.

Yes, Arianne's offering looks very nice. However my initial enthusiasm has somewhat dimnished - there will be no 2D panel which frankly does not bode welll for how well the avionics will run plus I suspect this will not match PMDG's technical accuracy. This may be a good product for those who relish VC cockpits but don't mind shortcomings in other areas.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

I suggest PMDG--better product in my view (that exists today), and it's an established company that sells with minimal hype.... My experience has been that the more hype a company uses to sell a product, the less the product meets ones expectations...As for wandering around a virtual cabin (to my knowledge, the Ariane model doesn't have one), the add-on you've probably heard mentioned is "Active Camera". It is not required for setting up various viewpoints in the virtual cabin--that can be done with certain panel edits. I think Active Camera is better used for viewing the aircraft from the outside, but I enjoy virtual cabins in many aircraft without it.-John

Mmm, didn't we have this kind of thread a couple of weeks ago, I wonder how long this will last until it gets ugly :-)Well, I'd go for PMDG any day, this is the finest piece of addon software I've ever seen for fs, period. (The only problem with it is that my other addon planes just doesn't seem to cut it anymore! :-))rgrds fredrik granfors

Good catch Fredrik--this thread did appear a couple week's back which makes me wonder if we should lend some thought to Toni's suggestion....

Today I had a chat with a Ariane beta tester. After that chat I think the Ariane 737NG is going to be beter then PMDG. I'm also not a Ariane fan, based on the history, but I don't think whe can close our eyes for this upcoming bird.--------------------GillyNetherlands

Stick with the PMDG, the aircraft are great and there's no smurky and dark background like it's with the Ariane.Although, I can't judge Ariane quality. But personally, I wouldn't even consider buying it, after flying PMDG. And look at the Ariane prices, they are just ridiculous. And one another thing, I never found some nice, big, fullscreen screenshots of their panels and systems.Very suspicious...

I dunno Gilly. My cousin dates a maid at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco and he said that she said that she heard from the hotel operator that she had just overheard a call from the hotel manager to the manager's son saying that he'd just talked to a friend who knows the brother of a fellow whose uncle is doing some flightsim testing and the testing guy said that the PMDG 737 is much better than the Ariane beta. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.Doug

HOLY COW! I used to go to technical school with that maid's daughter! What a small world. Dad, is that you?:-smooch

HiI want to thank all that have tried to answer my questions.I am however a little offended by some of you that have tried to put a sinister light behind this post but will try to explain.I did not create this account so know nothing about names and profiles as it was my son who set this up.As I hold the purse strings I thought after talking with my son that it might be a good idea to try to get all the facts behind both of these models before spending this much money on a game.I thought it might be a good Father/Son thing that we could learn together and wanted some forthright answers. That is all it was.Samuel
