What's the FPS hit on something like KLAX?

Tried it. Very odd runways. They're almost invisible until about 3 miles out? Looks like you're coming toward a big field with nice looking buildings next to it.

This is what it looks like about a mile out. Notice the airport looks amazing but the runways are just becoming clear. Not sure if this is normal? Can't keep it running long enough to figure out if there is a way to fix the issue. The runways are clear when it goes off.

Also, and more upsetting, my EZDoc was having problems with this add on...not coming up (found some other folks having the same problem). I uninstalled and seems to be okay now.

Pretty impressive...but I'm gonna have to steer clear.

The scenery surely doesn't look like your screenshot, that only indicates you have a problem with your settings. Check all the following:

- Be sure you have the "Force HD textures" option enabled in the Addon Manager. The installer set it to On by default but, if you have deselected it by mistake after the installation, it should be On.

- Check your Video card Control Panel option, and be sure you use "Anisotropic filtering" option to 8x or 16x. Use the option to force the setting, instead of the option to "let the application decide"

These suggestions were also indicated at Page 12 of the KLAX manual, the "Design notes" chapter, the paragraph that says "In order to enjoy the scenery at its fullest, we suggest the following:"

That's not going to work for my system. Turns my machine from 24fps down to 8fps. And the EZDoc thing is a showstopper.

Then something is very wrong with your system, since your card is very capable of use Anisotropic filtering with almost no performance loss. If you are not willing to use Anisotropic filter, that with a good card (like the one you use) doesn't change fps much, you will never able to use any scenery that use entirely custom runways/ground, like KLAX.

And the EZDoc thing is a showstopper.

Nobody has ever reported problems between EZDoc and KLAX or GSX, and you'll find plenty of videos on YouTube made by users which were clearly made with EZDoc, for example here:

KLAX with EZDok

And, look for this thread on the EZDok support forum:

The user specialist says he doesn't have any problems with EZDok and FSDT sceneries:

http://www.simforums.com/forums/ezdok-and-fsdreamteam-scenery_topic37443_post226063.html#226063

I have both KJFK and KORD from FSDT, and I have no problem what so ever with EZdok. It has to be something else not related to FSDT.

The user Patrick7, that had most of the problems, fixed them by reinstalling everything:

Which shows the problem on his system was caused by a problem with Windows system libraries that got corrupted somehow, which explains why other users don't have it.

Thanks Luke for posting this, I have been waiting for this sale for almost a year now! I just bought JFK, ORD, FLL, DFW, LAS, and LAX and saved $55! Installation and activation was a breeze, kinda thought it would have be more of a pain doing it with the addon manager.

Gregg, I have a very similar system as yours (only difference is 2500k and GTX570) and my LAX looks nothing like your screenshot so it's definitely not your system specs. Follow Umberto's advice and I'm sure he'll get you up and running in no time. Trust me, it's worth it!

I do use anisotropic filtering. I tried hardwiring it to 8x and that, alone, immediately cut my FPS by a third which won't work at all in my ORBX areas. (LAX is clearly not an ORBX area.) The only other thing I have on my system that's not on my specs is fps_limiter which improved my fps and makes my framerates at low dynamic scenery airports where the fps is 100+ very smooth.

The user Patrick7, that had most of the problems, fixed them by reinstalling everything:

I'd rather not reinstall everything. My suspicion with EZDoc is that there's a problem with dynamic linking in the shared libraries. I could be convinced to uninstall/reinstall the C++ runtimes and EZDoc in order to test it. (I took a peek and I have Visual C++ Redistributable 2005, 2008 and 2010 installed.) My thoughts about the runway thing is that it may be some other setting that is limiting the distance at which some things get clearly displayed. Notice that the runway is gradually becoming clear. If I knew what settings control that I could tweak it. FPS when LAX was running was not a problem at all...in the mid-40s down in SoCal where I have very little dynamic scenery.

It's a fairly new system so everything was installed up with the latest versions...it's relatively clean.

I am glad to know that others aren't having a problem since that gives me some hope. It's frustrating since all this stuff makes invisible changes and some of the changes are either poorly explained or not explained at all. *Sigh.*

This is interesting but I don't think the Bargain Hunter's Shack was set up for troubleshooting products. Maybe the FSDT support forum would be a better place to work out the details.

You're most welcome! I have been looking forward to an awesome FSDT sale like this for a while also! The wait was well worth it. I have fallen in love with absolutely everything released by FSDT, they are definitely one of my top FSX addon developers! Keep up the great work Virtuali!

Thanks for the link. I just bought GSX and it is pretty cool. I just recently been getting back in to flight simming after a 5 year absence. I will be getting FSDT sceneries before the end of the sale.

Thanks again.

Ray, correct and thanks for posting that. This forum is NOT a support forum as you point out. I did not see this thread until just now, or it would have been dealt with in similar fashion.
