June 26, 201213 yr What is with all the bugs? I just started flight and had a downloading update notice..3rd time in a week. After it started all my missions and challenges which were all completed were gone. I think i'll hold off on Alaska until after it's been out for a week.
June 26, 201213 yr There is a title update. Do you mean that you downloaded it and it did not install? Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
June 26, 201213 yr Strange? After the update last week I never got any update notification again (?). I believe I am on version 1.1.0.30041 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
June 26, 201213 yr There is a title update. Do you mean that you downloaded it and it did not install? No I updated last week ..there has been two more since. Now I have ZERO missions and challenges completed yet I am still on level 20 with all my XP and awards, achievements. version 1.1.0.30041 1.8 million points but I'm not allowed to do a Hamburger run.
June 26, 201213 yr Odd. There only has been one update recently. Seems like it didn't get installed the first few times...? Your version number is alright now. About the missing stuff: some things are saved online and some things are saved locally... You might want to go to the folder which holds your career and restore old files to get your missions and challenges back. C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Flight\Players\<Numbers Folder>\Career Career Folder > Properties > Previous Versions Backup the files that are there and then see if you can restore older versions of the files. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-questions
June 26, 201213 yr ahhh it was installed the first time. This happened yesterday. Not sure if I want to mess around with the files. I don't feel to confident in there.
June 26, 201213 yr Not sure if I want to mess around with the files. I don't feel to confident in there. If you first make a backup of that folder, you can always copy everything back in there if it didn't help.
June 26, 201213 yr And frankly, you should periodically back up those files. Your completed missions are saved in there, among other things. It's nice to just be able to copy them back over if you lose them from a reformat or other problem.
June 26, 201213 yr And frankly, you should periodically back up those files. Your completed missions are saved in there, among other things. It's nice to just be able to copy them back over if you lose them from a reformat or other problem. There was only one update. I use a program like Macrium Reflect to back up my entire hard disk, and files every evening to an external HD. Keeps them for 2 months ( the way I have it set) http://www.macrium.com/
June 26, 201213 yr A rolling, automatic backup should do the job. Just so long as it's keeping previous versions of the files available for a period of time. You don't want a backup to overwrite your only other good copy of a file with a corrupted or "reset" one.
June 26, 201213 yr A rolling, automatic backup should do the job. Just so long as it's keeping previous versions of the files available for a period of time. You don't want a backup to overwrite your only other good copy of a file with a corrupted or "reset" one. That is what I like about Macrium, you can set it to hang onto your files for as long as you want. On a daily basis, it only updates changes that you make ( incremental backup) , and stores the changes, so if a week down the road you discover a file was corrupted, you can go back a week or more, get the file you need from the backup drive and everything is well again.
June 26, 201213 yr I see there is a controls file in that folder. I made changes to the controls. Could this have corrupted the whole folder?
June 26, 201213 yr It can also be useful to have these files backed up in case you want to fly on a second PC. When I travel, I drop these files on my notebook, and I am always up to date. Always remember to Find Your FUN! -Bob
June 26, 201213 yr I see there is a controls file in that folder. I made changes to the controls. Could this have corrupted the whole folder? That's a distinct possibility. Always work on a copy of any files you wish to change. That way if something gets whacked, you have the original to go back to. Plus as said before, back up your important files, standard and the entire career folder. This way you can recover from a bad edit or update. Thank you. June 26, 201213 yr Thanks for your help. I restored it back to Saturday. Now I should backup this new career file just in case.
