How to use GMap as a popup within Flight full screen

They remind me of those Elvis paintings on black felt.

IMO, watermarks = visual noise.

There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

How can I re-size the GMap window? The default is too big :-(

Sorry, you can't resize the GMap window. I usually just pull it lower and right off the screen some since I often don't need all of it showing.

Yes, it's big but if you only use it as a popup to quickly glance at, it's no real problem. To me, anyway. :wink:

Yep, that's what I am doing. Thx for your answers Jeroen and Kengi.

I asked only because in a few screenshots Jeroen has posted it appeared as if the GMap window was smaller...

It's a great add-on. I just used it while getting the two first Alaskan aerocaches. Today's aerocache is piece-of-cake... One can even taxi into it :-)

I emailled [email protected] asking for full FSWidgets support in the future. It's the kind of 3pd that can't really harm MS FLIGHT strategy and, quite on the contrary, could contribute to make it an even more pleasant simulator.

I have also emailled the support team at flyelite.com asking for FSWidgets support :-)

Thanks for the guide, J van E. I'm finally trying it out now that I have Alaska and it's working great. Do you know if there's a freeware option to display Gmap over the network on a second PC?

Not yet. GMap for Flight is still in development. However, as soon as it is finished (as far as possible with software :wink: ) FSWidgets will add Flight to their er... network options and that would mean it will be available for iPhone, iPad, Android and, I presume, also for use on a network. (FSWidgets will correct me if I am wrong :wink: ). I personally am really looking forward to the Android version!!!

Sounds good. I usually have my laptop beside my PC, so it would be nice to put Gmap on the second screen.

I just followed your other Plan G guide with my own FSX database and that's working great too. Thanks again.

If the Gmap looks smaller, it means that the resolution of the monitor is higher. If you are running 1280, by 1024, the Gmap width will take about 600 pixels out of the 1280. If your monitor is 1960 x 1200, then it only takes up less than a third.

I see the latest thing FS Wigets has is terrain avoidance app. I guess it screams " PULL UP, PULL UP" at you....

Is there a way to set Gmaps to not recenter on my location automatically? If I'm trying to look at a different part of the map it always just snaps back to my plane. I know I could just zoom out to get a look at it all, but I would like to be able to zoom in on a different part too...

See the button that says "Disc" ( means disconnect). Press it.

Today I bought and registered:

1 x Alaska Sectional Charts (Cloud Based) () = US$9.95

Version Cloud Based

from FSWidgets. Soon after I received an email confirmation of the transaction and the product key.

I created "FSWidgetsGMap.ini" with the following content:

[Registration]

email=<my email>

gmapkey=XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXX

[Plans]

plansfolder=C:\Program Files (x86)\GMap\FlightPlans

and placed it in my "Gmap" dir where FSWidgetsGMap.exe resides.

When I start FSWidgetsGMap.exe it loads properly and works in perfect coordination with MS FLIGHT. The Plans folder works great too, allowing me to load flightplans, but when I use the "Charts" button I get an empty Charts window without any chart to Load ?

Any ideas?

The blue globe icon at the top right will let you select the charts to use.
