Basler BT-67 Turbo Conversion DC-3 released

Thanks for the V2 Cheese. All my fears of losing the things I liked in V1 were put aside. She flies like a bird. The only thing I have noticed is that the Navy C40 livery doesn't seem to want to work. Am I doing something wrong? Take care of your mouth problems before you try to do anything else, including answering this question... Thanks again for all your work. --- and the work all you guys are putting into this great work of art.

I guess Ray mentioned the thing which could cause the problem here. http://forum.avsim.n...00#entry2422229

Also, if you copy any of your existing texture files over and update the aircraft.cfg file you must change the model from 1.6 to 1.7 for each entry.

Hello. I have the Basler and am enjoying it. Just one queston. How do I get all the freight doors to open and close. Isn't there a door at the top of the main freight door?? If so how does it open, Thanks . CJ

Shift + E opens the left door.

Shift + E 2 opens the right door.

Shift + E 3 opens the upper door.

Shift + E 4 lowers the stairs. (Parking brake must be on.)

I hope this helps. Another piece of animation is the pilot and co-pilot side windows opening when you click on them. Too bad the hand sanitizer doesn't work!

Verison 1 of the HD gauges is done.

-> Download the ZIP file here <-

Extract the CAB file to \SimObjects\Airplanes\Basler_BT67\panel or \Gauges if you want to use these gauges with other aircraft.

The included panel.cfg will install all of the new HD gauges. It will overwrite any changes you may have made to the panel.cfg file. It is the panel.cfg that shipped with verison 2.

If you want to add them by hand make sure to change pixel_size=512,512 to pixel_size=1024,1024 in both [Vcockpit01] and [Vcockpit02]. You must replace the existing gauge references.

Example: Replace gauge15=Cessna208B_Basler!prop_rpm, 265,288,67,67 with gauge15=BT67_HD!prop_rpm, 267,289,66,66

I have resize and moved them around a bit so be sure to replace the whole line.

Enjoy! Version 2 will include the primary flight gauges.

Use either fuel flow or fuel pressure. The both occupy the same spot.

[Vcockpit02]
gauge11=BT67_HD!fuel_press2, 400,187,63,63

Very good work in the instruments. I first thought that the change will be subtle, but wow! Now the backlight tone difference is noticeable though, but this should just encourage you some more to head for the primary flight instruments. B)

I saw you guys changed the landing lights in V2, away from the particle effect. Must say that the new bright star effect comes in even better.

Also seems like the max achievable torque was altered. I can't get over 91% whereas the V1 model went to 100. User error.

The full throttle still gets 'stuck' though. Not a problem, just a thing to keep in mind.

On the HD gauges, the yellow range is slightly off. Here's a shot with HD left and standard right. Note the yellow range starting at 90. But I'd say that the HD range is better when looking at the values on the control panel and their way to turn yellow and red. So that may have been the thing KOXR had in mind. Makes sense!

These gauges are simple XML style that only read data and do not manipulate anything. This is part of the airplane design and the gauge is reflecting that.

Everything about the new gauges is modeled after the cockpit of the real Polar 5. Daniel was kind enough to let me see his refernece photos and I matched every everthing from the placement and number of tick marks to the locations of the green and yellow circles. The real life gauge only has yellow between 95 and 100%.

You can place that link where ever you like. Thanks for all your hard work on the repaints! Is there a US Forest Service livery coming soon?

Yea that is correct and well spotted. It is also confirmed as 95% TQ is the continous climb setting.

Thank you for your gauges!

Thanks to CoolP, I have got my C-40 Navy working. Thanks to the rest of you the guages and liveries are working. You guys are phenonomal! I am anxiously awaiting whatever the next goodies are!

I guess my statements on the gauges came in the wrong way for you, KOXR. When looking at my post, you'll find me actually praising your work (including the new yellow arc range) and also reporting about my initial impressions on the V2 variant of the Basler.

I was running the tweaked V1 until then, so my comments on the throttle thingy and e.g. the landing lights refer to the plane itself and the flight model. The stuck throttle thing can only be explained by Alexander I guess. Same goes for the yaw damper effectiveness.

Sorry if the reports sometimes sound like complains. It's not intended.

The stuck throttle problem is a dilemma in FSX. Some developers avoid it by adjusting 100% throttle to 100% TQ. But that is not realistic on a turboprop engine as typically you get at sea level 100%TRQ with less than 100% and you need to advance throttle with gaining altitude to maintain power settings. I prefer to simulate the realistic settings and need to point out in the documentation that you should not throttle full forward at take-off. By that you avoid the FSX and also FS9 behavior to over throttle and take quite some time to reduce from that.

Happy flying!
