July 7, 201213 yr I throught I had a couple of hours to fly this afternoon, wrong. Went to fire up flight but there was no PLAY option, just download. So now we wait for a 1.73 GB download to finish and hope everything is a ok. Working from the laptop now.
July 7, 201213 yr I uninstalled MS FLIGHT :-( just a couple of days after having reached 1.000.000+ points, and after having started to experiment with Alaska. I'll wait for the next DLCs to decide what to do... While I still find it the best GS visual flying experience I ever had, I was expecting a proper weather environment for Alaska. I don't think it makes any sense to be in Winter, under severe weather conditions, and still under ISA... If oppening a door has effects, if flying inverted on an asphirated engine has effects, then why completely forgeting abou basic, but rather important in aviation, effects like temperature/dew point/icing...? I also didn't like the "upgrade" to the prop engine, which resulted on a noticeable downgrade of the Maule performance, making it unrealistic... We already have something to complain about regarding that unrealistic MP vs RPM relation, now we got a new problem to worry about... Nor do I like there being no way to monitor what you're doing when leaning an engine... specially when I see the EGT gauge there, freezed, just like the OAT thermometer... Nor the update to the Controls CFG suggesting that it'll probably take a long time before we get multi-engine aircraft... and so and so.... and... I have to admit to myself, I really need something more, some more purpose than getting aerocaches, carrying chikens and pax, with repetitive sentences / noises... and not being able to really deal with what might cause some really demanding flights when the weather is up to it's worst, like with the new themes, but on all of it's variables, not just visuals and winds/turbulence... I can't say I will not be back, of course, it all depends on what I see happening with the next DLCs... July 7, 201213 yr Author I hope we see you back soon jcomm. Your witt will be greatly missed. I do understand where you are coming from. I guess I am having to much fun with the entertainment aspect of the thing. I am very easley entertained. I like dropping in on airfields of all kinds and not knowing what to expect. I have combat pedals and trackiR gear on order so I expect to be around for the duration. We can only hope for better things to come.
July 7, 201213 yr I can't say I will not be back, of course, it all depends on what I see happening with the next DLCs... I will have to say I am somewhat surprised. I will miss your enthusiasm here , hopefully things will improve to lure you back in. I throught I had a couple of hours to fly this afternoon, wrong. Went to fire up flight but there was no PLAY option, just download. I wonder what the heck caused that?? Don B
July 7, 201213 yr I guess my question is, why uninstall it, does it take up that much room on your hard drive?
July 7, 201213 yr noticeable downgrade of the Maule performance, making it unrealistic Try running your prop speed at 90 % It made a big difference for me
July 7, 201213 yr Try running your prop speed at 90 % It made a big difference for me I use the prop speeds recommended in the check list, 85% cruise climb, and 70 % cruise, and if anything, I have to be careful not to overspeed the Maule, getting in the middle of the yellow arc on the airspeed indicator with 21hg manifold pressure. Seems to have plenty of power, unless flying at very high altitudes.
July 7, 201213 yr I have combat pedals and trackiR gear on order so I expect to be around for the duration. You are in for a treat! @jcomm: pity Flight doesn't deliver what you like to see in the sim... Who knows in the future it will. Your enthusiasm will be missed indeed. (Or will we see you back in a few days just like the last time you 'left'...? ) This clearly shows that everyone is in this game for a different reason. Some people want temperature and icing, others want hardware support for every possible button, others like challenges and missions and I... I just like to fly and imagine myself I am really flying out there. About prop etc. Lately I simply take off full power and all and when I have reached a certain altitude I set MP and RPM to something like 23/23/ or 24/24 and that's it. I don't really care if the result isn't exacly like it should be in real life: it's enough to give me the feeling I am really flying out there. BTW I have turned ff torque effect because I got sick of the left pulling after all. Maybe not realistic... well, so be it. I am having a blast with Flight! ANYWAY... @Air1: do you have any clue what caused this forced reinstall...?

Seems to have plenty of power, unless flying at very high altitudes. I didnt use the check list.I applied full power and adjusted prop for the highest, level flight, speed.. On take off I get airborn a little quicker with the prop set at 100. I have no real world experience with a constant speed prop. For the PA 12 there was a prop for wheels and skiis and one for floats. The prop for floats dropped the top speed to around 95 mph.
July 7, 201213 yr (Or will we see you back in a few days just like the last time you 'left'...? ) Not impossible... :-) But I'd rather see some sign of good improvements when the next DLCs are announced... The temperature/icing thing would be very important and didactic as well... Other than that I still mantain that MS FLIGHT gave be the best overall sensation of being there of all the sims I have used, visualy, "physicaly", thanks not only to the improvements in it's FD but also in the weather/winds model. Also, meanwhile a great friend who I got into the flightsim world a few years ago, is now using my gamertag :-) He is enjoying it a lot, although a little bit overwhelmed with so many new stuff... July 7, 201213 yr Author Well, two hours latter.....................No Idea what caused it. Download is compleat and every thing is back as it should be. All is right with the world, well, the world of FLIGHT anyway. I have been using the Cubby a lot because it is such a blast to fly. I use it for heavy transpot because it can carry anything. I think the airfile was meant for a much larger aircraft that did not show up yet. but i'm ok with that. It will be SO much better with a VC I just hate flying with the hud. I am reserving some of the more difficault landings until I can make use of the rudder pedals and the trakiR. I love it when the passengers freak out when I take off from the ramp and head almost stright up before leaveling off. Much to learn for a old dog.
July 7, 201213 yr I just don't understand this request for icing with GA light aircraft that we are flying. If you suspect there are icing conditions possible, you don't take off, period, unless you want to kill yourself and or wreck your aircraft,
July 7, 201213 yr I just don't understand this request for icing with GA light aircraft that we are flying. If you suspect there are icing conditions possible, you don't take off, period, unless you want to kill yourself and or wreck your aircraft, Unfortunately things do not happen that way, even in RL, specially when flying on regions like Alaska... And regarding carburetor icing, it could happen on the hotest Summer day in Hawaii. On many missions in Hawaii and now in Alaska we mert clouds, fog, where there should be low temps and moist... Ice should bother us then (structural/pitot)... Then there's that temperatures limitation in the weather model. The differences between operating on a hot day vs a real cold one... A few days ago an aicraft - C150 - crashed nearby LPCS (cascais Aerodrome) on the hotest day this year... It lost power, entered a stall apparently followed by "vrille". Both pilot and instructor died :-( When I arrived home I started ELITE and fetched the proper METAR. I didn't have a C150, but I did have LPCS and a 172, and, I easily felt why it could have happened... Previous versions of MSFS had an acceptable weather model with temperature and even dew point... In MS FLIGHT, no matter where you fly, at what time of day or season... it's ISA - 15ºC at mean sea level :-( Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

In MS FLIGHT, no matter where you fly, at what time of day or season... it's ISA - 15ºC at mean sea level :-( I got my license and flew for 10 years in South Florida, one of the worst places for carb icing. Check list on landing, turn on carb heat on C-150 and 152, C172 etc prior to power reduction.... It Sounds like they didn''t follow the checklist if it was in fact carb icing, and losing power is no reason to stall and spiral ( if that is what that word was) . Practiced engine out procedures many times prior to solo.
July 7, 201213 yr The temperature thing should be addressed, IMHO. Carb and pitot icing should also be modellled. Stuctural icing is more complex, but MSFS 9 and X had it, even if implemented not so well... I would also like to have at least some form of properly dealing with engine mixture, and of course I would like to see that prop engine bug corrected... The Maule accelerating on climb when your reduce RPM, sometimes almost instantly and by more than 10 knots, is really not a good thing... The torque/prop effects introduced by the latest patch should also translate a lot more into yaw than bank, and using the rudder trim is next to impossible - too sensitive....useless...
