July 9, 201213 yr Actually Congress just passed the "Pilots Bill of Rights" to stem some of the supposed heavy handedness of the FAA! http://avstop.com/july_2012/senator_jim_inhofe_finally_gets_his_way_with_pilots_bill_of_rights.htm The PBR was passed June 29 by the Senate and sent to the House, where similar legislation had been introduced... It's not law and has a long way to go before it ever will be, if it ever does... Since it was voted up by the Senate it must now go to the House and be voted on without any amendments or changes. If the House changes it in any way, it then goes back to the Senate where they must vote on it again absent any changes. Then it goes to the president where it's signed into law... The PBR is a looooooooooooooooooong way from become law. A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. - Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
July 9, 201213 yr The PBR is a looooooooooooooooooong way from become law Yeppers.. but having read it, nothing in it seems unreasonable. Very passable even with anti-other side syndrome going on these days.
July 10, 201213 yr I bet he was flying with old charts, haha. -Sean L PPL + IFR, SEL HP/Complex.. LAS WN Ground Ops
July 10, 201213 yr Good observation, that sounds very plausible if he had dialed in an incorrect radial. I wonder how much these have changed for NY in the last decade. What a nut job to be tying up the freq and arguing with ATC like that.
July 11, 201213 yr I wonder how much these have changed for NY in the last decade. What a nut job to be tying up the freq and arguing with ATC like that. U can find allot of funny nut jobs with ATC on YouTube, LiveATC.com, and others. Some of the best are in JFK, as you might expect at Major International Airports. Just getting planes to taxi at these mini cities has a channel all its own!
