July 8, 201213 yr "Pilots Bill of Rights" sounds like an oxymoron....I always considered flying an airplane to be a privilege and not a right. Same goes with driving a car. This is the first I've heard of this one and it seems odd to me. It was started because the senator landed on a clearly closed runway with a lighted x and vehicles on the runway. He said the FAA didn't do enough to tell him the runway was closed. All he had to do was read the NOTAMs or call flight service. All of which where to much work for him to do. Chris Miller

That is crazy, Someone with power made a mistake and instead of admiting it....he made a new law. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
July 8, 201213 yr Spookiest video I've seen for a while. That girl was so cool with the old boy. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near his airspace. Rick Almeida
July 8, 201213 yr Apart from the fact that he is a clown why would he say he was on the correct heading when he wasn't? Sorry if that's a silly question. Anthony O'Brien
July 8, 201213 yr A know-it-all old man. Deal with them all the time at the FBO. ^_^ I wondered if he might be the dinosaur type that resents being told what to do & where to go by a woman. His dismissive attitude, especially toward the end of that video, suggests that might be so.

The pilot seemed mentally unbalanced and highly agitated. Either stressed by personal life, mentally ill, under the influence of something, or a combination of any of those. You really never know what's going on at the other end of that radio. Like always, I'll be short and sweet: A fist fight erupted from the same sort of radio back-and-forth 4 months ago between two fella's at the FBO. Suffice it to say, the party giving the most lip on the other end of the radio was obviously unbalanced and near suicidal. He actually sounded exactly like the gentleman in the above clip. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 8, 201213 yr I think he may have been confused, in that, his plane was following the flight plan, and here was ATC vectoring him some other way. At least that could be the theory. Not allot of info on the flight at any rate. "Don't bother me"... Totally unprofessional, and unacceptable.

Otherwise, you better have a good reason for disregarding ATC instruction. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 8, 201213 yr If you don't want to be vectored, cancel your flightplan and clear controlled airspace. Otherwise, you better have a good reason for disregarding ATC instruction Absolutely.. But I think he thought she was trying to get him back on his flight plan.. but his plane was telling him he was already on the plan. In other words.. he didn't understand she was vectoring him.
July 8, 201213 yr I would be curious to know if there was any discipline......and please don't tell me he won't be disciplined under the new 'Pilots Bill Of Rights' because she was too busy to make him completely understand her instructions or something like that... July 8, 201213 yr the old fogey Hey, careful with that moniker!!! Some of us age impaired types could be offended by that kind of language. :p0503:
July 8, 201213 yr please don't tell me he won't be disciplined under the new 'Pilots Bill Of Rights' because she was too busy to make him completely understand her instructions or something like that... Reading the law, it wouldn't do that.. it just makes the FAA inform the pilot 30 days before action will be taken... She sounded level headed.. for all we know, she may have just let it go... unless another pilot filed something who was on the channel at the time.. like the "Good luck" pilot.

Yeah that's what I figured as well. Not worth the paper pushing to pursue it. The YouTube video is the best way to raise awareness and get people talking about it. He would certainly become aware of it being on YouTube by now you would think. But I don't think he would like the taste of humble pie. July 9, 201213 yr But I don't think he would like the taste of humble pie. Absolutely!! I hope he saw it. If I had been flying in that area for awhile, and got to know the controllers as one does, I think I might have jotted down that N number and said something.
