July 11, 201213 yr hi there, not sure if i need to post it here but feel free to move the topic if this is the wrong place. so, i have the 2 GPSes from Reality xp. the 530 and the 430 working in crossfill. Now my problem is that i when i select an app in the gps not all RNAV app is showing. I know they where there some time ago i dont know where it went wrong. Some airports got them and some dont. I am not selecting an airport that hasnt have one so thats not the case. I know they got the RNAV app but i just cant select them. I did check out the forum of Reality xp but i could not find a post there regarding this so maybe someone here had the same thing? greetings Sry for the bad english
July 11, 201213 yr The RXP database is quite outdated. Even if you do the round about way of updating it as outlined in their product forums, you will still be using at least two year old data. It is quite possible that some of the RNAV approaches you are looking for just aren't in the database. As for you having seen them before but not anymore- I am not sure what to make of that. But since you are apologizing for your bad english, I would believe that you are outside the US where there database coverage may be even more spotty. And your english is quite good by the way!
July 11, 201213 yr Could it be that your nav data is outdated? This would mean that the airport is present, but the 'latest' approaches are not. There is some help in the RXP forums which will allow you to update the nav data to some mid 2011 level. This should give you a lot more approaches if you are still running the data from just installing the RXP. I guess that was some 2009 stuff. Edited. Ian says it all. Here's the thread on the updates. http://www.simforums.com/Forums/nav-database-update-via-new-garmin-trainers_topic39731.html
July 11, 201213 yr Author ty for the replys so far but that is not really the problem. When i first got the gps i did an RNAV on KAST(Astoria) and it whas there. Now its gone in the app menu and cant select it anymore. I did 3 reinstalls on both the GPSes and its still not working. Maybe i did something wrong in the gps settings but i cant remember ever messing with them greetings
July 11, 201213 yr I did 3 reinstalls on both the GPSes and its still not working. Maybe i did something wrong in the gps settings but i cant remember ever messing with them If you've done three re-installs, and any of them are full (meaning you also re-installed the trainer), then you will have reverted to very old data. The RNAV approach at KAST is currently an LPV approach and is probably not in the original data as such. The 2011 data brought a big jump in the number of available WAAS/LPV approaches. In any case, this is clearly a database issue. Follow the instructions in the link that CoolP provided, your data will be updated, and I'm quite sure your problem will disappear. Regardless of how the problem occurred, this will solve it. Scott

July 14, 201213 yr This actually bugs me. This is another product I would buy if it included an updatable navigraph database but the price is so high as it is that I won't want to be jumping through hoops just to be stuck with a 2009 or maybe 2011 database.
July 14, 201213 yr What is so terrible about a 2011 navdata database? FSX has base scenery that dates back to 2006 or so... I find that the Garmin 2011 database gives me great data to navigate and fly with.. Is has all the current approaches and waypoints in my area (Pacific North West). Bert
July 14, 201213 yr What's so bad about 2011 indeed (and there's no "maybe" about the 2011 data). Even with payware scenery and airports and some other updates, my 2011 data has ground-based approaches that aren't there in the sim (in other words, with respect to ground-based approaches, it's sometimes actually too new). I'm probably missing a few of the newest GPS approaches, but in general it's a good compromise between matching what's on the ground and providing a wealth of newer GPS approaches. Not sure what "hoops" you're referring to either. There's nothing difficult about obtaining and updating to the 2011 data. Particularly when measured across the 11 different aircraft I currently use my 430 and/or 530 in, the RXP gauges are one of the best bang for the buck investments I've made in FSX. Scott
July 14, 201213 yr Hello The problem I have with the outdated Navdata is that my Flight planner (FSCommander) is using the latest cycle from Navigraph in order to match the same data in my Addon aircraft. Therefore if I use FScommander to plan my flights there is a good chance that I will be unable to enter that plan into the RXP garmin. If I still had Navigraph cycle 1106 available I would use that in FSbuild for my RXP plans, but I deleted it long ago
July 15, 201213 yr Therefore if I use FScommander to plan my flights there is a good chance that I will be unable to enter that plan into the RXP garmin. How often does this happen in GA planes where the RXP's are used? I mean, is there really a "good chance"? (Serious question, just in case it sounds overly confrontational!) Unless you're flying a lot of SIDs and STARs which really aren't used that much in real-world GA flying, I can't imagine it comes up that often. I don't use an outside flight planner, but I do use current charts and rarely (I mean really RARELY as in I can't remember a specific instance, but I think there may have been one ) come up with missing approach fixes, and I can't ever remember having an enroute issue. As I mentioned, the biggest problem I see is in my data being ahead of FSX. But maybe I don't get around enough! Scott
