X-Plane 10 Tree Lines and Farms Scenery released

Featured Replies

Today I have something new for X-Plane 10. A scenery, which tries to improve the look of the less “populated” areas of the default (or HD Mesh) Global Scenery, namely the agricultural areas, grasslands and pastures (the place, which can be wast and empty … especially in regions like the US Mid West etc.).

This new scenery will add random tree lines along many-many roads and some – hopefully – well placed farms in the landscape (at least in the continental USA and Europe). After the download, you might be quite surprised by how some regions of the Global Scenery look (as a starter, try some random location in the US Mid West).

Or see some before / after comparisons (use the slide show in picasa, then you will see the difference quite "easily")

Extraordinary! Didn't download them, just saw the screenshots. With this, X-Plane autogen is approaching FSX default autogen.

I hope this will be integrated into default X-Plane in the near future? Paying you to do these sort of things is what X-Plane users expect Laminar Research to do... Laminar is sorely missing in the art-assets department...

We have - of course - plans to include something like this in future Global Scenery (though, never ask for exact plans, time-lines etc. and plans can always change) but you can already have it today via this download  ...

If ever the phrase 'a world of difference' fits well, this would be the perfect scenario...wow

GREAT job!!!

Fantastic work!

I like flying around in Idaho and your add-on makes a HUGE difference to the landscape. Thanks!

Rural landscapes are very barren by default, but this fills in the gaps (literally) quite well and with great results so far. Much kudos to your efforts and keep them coming.

The before/after shots are really impressing. Will download asap.

Amazing how much more "alive" it looks by putting in some tree lines, farm houses and bushes.

If the already very good road system is pushed a little bit more (sometimes placing of houses is a little out of the plausible) and some new art assets (buldings in general, the roads lack some diversity in color, surface /refraction, painting etc.) and general enhancements like yours are put is, XP10 will look really really good by default.

Thanks a lot

Incredible! Thank You!

Any plans to include Latin America (Caribbean, Central and South america)?

Thanks Dennis

Well, Latin America could be possible, but I think it lacks the degree of OSM coverage you see in Europe and USA. But without detailed rural road network, my technology can't do much (as all the tree lines are derived from OSM roads). So, for the moment I would say, I have no plans to do it ... but maybe one day B)

Update:

  • 25th July, 2012 – In both packages (Europe and USA) I have updated the draped ground textures (thanks to Albert, my long time friend and great texture artist of the XP10 Global Scenery) which now have colors better matching the Global Scenery textures. If your downloaded ZIP file has a little “_2″ postfix, then its already the new version.

So, its not a big thing (no tree lines, or farm objects have changed), but just in case ...
