July 15, 201213 yr In my view Aerosoft still has the best skyscrapers add-ons in FSX (as shown below). The realism is breadth taking? Any other add-ons that looks as real? Any in Europe? I absolutely dislike the skyscrapers shown in the default scenery and even GEX and UTX. You views?
July 15, 201213 yr Yup. I love those scenery's and have several of them. I believe they are Google earth objects transported into fsx and they work very well. You just have to keep in mind though that they are essentially daytime only though (except Las Vegas), and are best seen at about the altitude you are showing. Its been kind of a tossup; build essentially from scratch like Aerosoft New York (beautiful but probably time consuming as heck) Use Google earth (great but day only, and moderate to bad textures) or use street map data with completely (mostly) imaginary buildings (Xplane-10) Or kinda of a mash of whatever works and looks great, like Orbx I think all of these techniques are currently available to flight technically, except what X-plane is doing. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. July 15, 201213 yr Author How is X-plane development coming along? I ordered x-plane but never installed it. I'll wait until it's more developed.
July 16, 201213 yr being that I'm from the Chicago area, Aerosoft's scenery looks great but the lack of night lightning absolutely kills the experience. Ps. Didn't realize they've put the Chicago Spire in there, even though it doesn't exist? heh Jacek G. July 16, 201213 yr If I remember correctly, I believe you are given the option to choose whether or not you want the Chicago Spire to be displayed as part of the install process. Avid flightsimmer with a solo pilot endorsement, halfway toward my Private Pilot in the Diamond DA20 C-1 Eclipse.
July 16, 201213 yr this video made me go check out the Chicago one as ive been meaning to buy it (and now have a pc to run it ) and for the price theyre a steal for sure lee
July 16, 201213 yr I got chicago recently. I luve the buildings They are awesome.. BTW.,.. Right now I am sitting here in Chicago. :) But the photo texture color underneath doesn't match with the default chicago area...the default chicago (other than downtown buildings) is actually very very good. Its green and the autogens are really good for this area. I wish I knew a way to remove the phototextures of non downtown area (that looks really washedout) from this Aerosoft chicago city scenery. Manny VFR London city is pretty good. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 17, 201213 yr Chicago does look good.....I bought Chicago X and haven't installed it yet. I'm saddened by the lack of night textures as Chicago is simply beautiful at night. I'm tired of the excuses developers give for not including it. (e.g you only fly vfr during the day). Also the lack of seasons is disappointing but a little more acceptable. More importantly though, what plane is that? I'm guessing it's the maddog......would like to know for sure. I'm also curious to know if anybody has had success combining megascenery earth with aerosoft cities x chicago. I'm not sure which photoscenery looks better. But the megascenery earth stuff helps my frame rates.
July 19, 201213 yr Author Hi all, I agree with you, Chicago by Aerosoft looks great. The plane is MD-80 by Commercial Level Simulation. By the way, have any of you come across JetMax? I think it is cool you can have your own cockpit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u68aRS5Ze1o?rel=0&autoplay=1 http://www.jetmax.ca/
July 19, 201213 yr Here is real Chicago at night... I took this photo last month Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 19, 201213 yr Author wow - a great picture. Are you a photographer? Did you really take that pic?
