July 28, 201213 yr Well, in my case I started Flight, got the aerocache located about 1/2 a mile from the departure runway and closed the game. Less than 5 minutes. Even after the news, I still go aerocache hunting. Yesterday's was a flight that took longer than I anticipated. Only after flying a while and not having the range indicator change did I do a search to see where I should be headed. A quick 180 and I was headed towards the area. Had fun flying in the clouds while gaining altitude. I try to focus on the instruments and keep them in line until I'm back to VFR. Ended up taking over an hour in the Vans. I hadn't been to Dutch Harbor since release and I remembered it was in the snip of the promo video, so I was glad to see what it looked like. The aerocache wasn't any big thing, but out of the corner of my eye I saw a bridge... Someone I know likes to fly under them... Could the Vans fit underneath? At an altitude of 13' and a speed of 130kts, yes it can. I might even go back and see if I can do it while inverted. But I'll need to practice before I try. Flight is a nice break from life, which today was some problems with two hard drives. Tomorrow I will resume hacking out some program code, but I'll take an afternoon "aerocache break" for sure.
July 28, 201213 yr Commercial Member I hope there is 1 more aircraft left, and I hope I know what it is. Not everything I did for Flight has been released. There is 1 more big surprise left, and I truly hope it sees the light of day. If its not that, it will be a sad day for me, as my best work may never get to be flown. July 28, 201213 yr From the sound of things they were almost finished this next aircraft and so it would make more sense to release it than can it. Let`s just hope it`s got a VC and that they don`t cut corners with the quality because it`s the last ever plane.
July 28, 201213 yr Yeah, I think those of us that really liked Flight for what it was and spent a lot of time with it, are feeling pretty much the same thing... an end to something we thought could be really great... Really difficult to get excited about taking that next flight. I'll sleep on it. +1000 on al similar posts... I plunged head over heals back into FSX yesterday, but now I am not even sure if I want to continue this hobby it all.
July 28, 201213 yr Well, I ordered xplane10, and I hope I enjoy it - at least I believe LR will not put an end on it just like MS did with FLIGHT. I also reinstalled Condor because I was really missing the online competitions... Yesterdays news of yet another airplane DLC, apparently a nice one, for FLIGHT felt strange... It's like telling you your ex-girlfriend just got more good looking with her new short skirt..... This gives me hope. :) Will it require a code update? Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
July 28, 201213 yr I am not even sure if I want to continue this hobby it all. Blimey! Breathe, dude Give it a day or so, Jeroen..or maybe even a week..I'm such a flight sim obsessive I am on FSX (and a bit of FLIGHT) every evening of the week until at least 2300 (my wife watches lots of crap TV - she thinks I'm a :Nerd: ) Some days, I just can't be bothered. I'm all flyed out..I leave it a day; I go to work a couple of days; I try to play Minecraft (which is ridiculously addictive for such a basic game btw) I get the bug again..I need to feel the surge on TO; I need to fly through the clouds over Mount Cook and see the valleys and Fjords of NZSI, and I get sucked back in.. And I play Air Hauler, which is also ridiculously addictive, and turns FSX into a much better version of the jobs model in FLIGHT; and REXPlane will be out soon, and..and.. Don't give it up, Jeroen..you know you don't want to I hope I know what it is I wish you could give us a clue, Kevin Is it smaller or larger than the Cub? Don't give it up, Jeroen..you know you don't want to LOL Yeah, I'm breathing... Just bought the RealAir Legacy for FSX. WOW! Now THAT'S a plane! Really awesome! I know flying on the PC is just a hobby and nothing more, but it's about the only hobby I've got (well, I've got more but I don't have time for them ), so... some things DO have an impact. But I'm fine now, at least for a while LOL. I have to say that the RealAir Lancair above PNW looks pretty real... I really do miss the enhancements from Flight (I was in it for the shadows) but somehow what I see in FSX right now looks more realistic, like you see on photographs, where Flight looks more like a very good looking game. Pretty games don't necessarily have to be more realistic. If you know what I mean. But that thought probably got into my mind subconsciously to make myself believe all is fine, no, better now... Although I always said the mesh in Alaska wasn't that good and things looked quite generic... Ah, what the heck!!! Who am I trying to convince or why am I trying to apologize for liking FSX... About Air Hauler: I've been looking at it, to give my flying some more purpose. But it seems a LOT has to be done outside of FSX...? I would simply like to do jobs as in Flight, really. I also looked at FS Pssengers but that seems to be another dead game. The Air Hauler website is down btw... Can you use Air Hauler in a very simple and basic way? So just do jobs on your own (with the Legacy) without having to watch spreadsheets? And can you take off from anywhere you want to? (This is getting OT...)

Loki said on the Steam forum, that there is one other plane that was completed before Flight shut down, he said they may be able to release it, he doesn't know yet

Sorry, but I will not be buying anything more for an unsuportted platform. Flight should not have gone belly up so soon but it has. For the moment I have lost all enthusuiasm for flight simming. It was always a real time hogger anyway. Lots of other things to spend my time on. But I am really sorry if the MS decision has affected you personally.
July 28, 201213 yr @ Jeroen: (and briefly ) Yes, you can just dip into AH. Single base, single plane. 1. Choose a job. 2. Fuel up. 3. Load up. 4. Fly. The "spreadsheet" bit is only really the way it's laid out and tabulated..once you have >2 pilots and/or bases it becomes slightly more involved, but essentially all you are doing is number 1 above for your pilots, too (they obv do 2-4) That's it! (there is a great AH forum, over at Just Flight, here) EDIT: And I meant SImAir from REX, not REXplane Duh... ^_^ JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
July 28, 201213 yr This is wonderful, guys. The FS 10 forum is just one above this one! :lol: Many of you are feeling the disappointment and the sense of abandonment that, I suppose, the so-called "serious" simmers felt 5 years ago, and once again 6 months ago. But, really, I hope that you will calm down, and remember that we have been through this many times before. Many flight games have been abandoned by their publishers, including Microsoft with ... FS 10 just 5 years ago. Sierra cut off ProPilot, Falcon was dumped by MicroProse, Fly!, the FU series. This is nothing new. I am not particularly upset. Each time that this has happened, I just continue to enjoy what I have - isn't that what you were telling the "hard-core" airline simmers just a few months ago? Flight continues to be the best looking, best flying version of FS so far, in spite of its extremely limited content. It is full of little bugs and unfinished features, and yet it comes closer than any other flight game to reproducing the feeling of flight. And I think that the best tribute we can make to this great title and to the wonderful people who created it is to continue to enjoy it as long as possible. Best regards.
