Ya, I have. But it's also true that there is very very slight performance difference between a $400 i7 and an AMD quad core. Yes intel makes good processors, but you are not limited to A i5 of i7 to make FSX run good.

U can use whatever cpu fits your budget. But for best performance u will want an i5/i7 and nvidea build.

That rig sucks for FSX. Big time. He told you to get 12GB in 3 sticks for that rig?

I don't know if that guy is a computer expert, but he definitely doesn't know a thing about FSX

Agree :good: AMD for FSX :help:

Seriously, the difference between a FX4100 and a 2500K is HUGE. You are looking at less than half the FPS you would get with your original list of parts

You're better off running an I5 at stock clocks.

Nobody is telling you that you need a $400 I7. It actually costs far less, but a $200 I5 2500K will give you pretty much the same performance.

If you can't wait and save another $100, get what you listed in the first post with a GTX550Ti, a CX500 PSU and get an overclockable board later when you can, and a CPU cooler, then overclock

And it's been said ad nauseum that ATI cards are not the best for FSX. Are you building an FSX machine or one for the most advance modern games?

I know you are right, but my computer techy guy also seems right.

Im just pi$$ed because I don't know who is right!

I have literally been looking for parts for the past 3 months, and have come to no conclusion. And yes, I'm so very sorry... but I don't have that good of money, so I have to buy the next best thing.

This guy said he build his PC for $800. And his frames from his video are excellent.

Yeah, that guy got a 2500K @ 4.5GHz with a Titan Fenrir plus a Corsair 600W. He got that for 800 pounds in the UK

That's exactly the type of rig you should get, except for the GPU. NVidia is preferred for FSX

So it was a $1,000 computer. Is there anything that can save me like $100?

Dude, Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!! $762?? I could buy a joystick!!!!! That's awesome! Thanks!!

What's the catch... I'm a little suspicious.... (other than rebate)

The catch is the MIR's don't always work lol...

I'm still weary of that GTX 550 card and that 500w PSU. On paper the PSU should be adequate.

Regarding the uber awesome 20 yr veteran tech guy - I don't know him, but 99% of "those" people I've talked to in the past know nothing about FSX. They assume since it's an older game it will work with older hardware. Ugh... It's like going to Best Buy and talking with their PC salespeople LOL!

I think that's like the best were going to do with such a tight budget
