August 18, 201213 yr Well, the OpenCycle maps option does show elevation... below 60°N. It would work for now, but as soon as ORBX Southern Alaska comes out I'll be going back to version 2.x, so I may as well just stick with it anyway. I just hope it keeps working.
August 18, 201213 yr Let's not forget THIS IS FREE! My farts are free though i dont think many, apart from myself, would appreciate them! I like this new version though, runs smoother and faster for me than v2
August 18, 201213 yr I installed it today and I like it. I run it on a Dell Inspiron 1525 which is not a super fast laptop by today's standards but it's no slouch either. It seems to be slightly faster startup but after that it's about the same as v2.05. Two things I miss already is 1) no satellite view which I use often to spot landmarks and such (especially going into a farm field or other very small airstrip) and 2) the VORs don't show up at all until at zoom 8 - i.e. you can't zoom out and see all the VORs on your route anymore. Maybe there's a setting somewhere to fix that? Overall I will use this updated excellent program (Thanks to the Plan-G team for an excellent gift!) but I will also keep v2.05 around for now as I will have to get used to v3 over time.
August 19, 201213 yr It is implemented in another way, a strange one. You chose a waypoint from the plan and right click something on the map to add below or above the said waypoint on the plan. Hope that made any sense. Edit: According to dev, it was a googlemaps feature so thats why it's missing. It is also possible to drag the created waypoints but you have to create them like I mentioned above. Well that is extremely disappointing. The click and drag utility is something that FS Navigator had and when that went belly up (at least for FSX) it was great to have it in Plan-G. So I guess that is it, even though Plan-G is freeware and I am reluctant to be critical, v3 does seem to be something of a downgrade with the most useful feature of v2 no longer supported and the new features not really of interest to me.
