FlyTampa stuff doesnt work with DX10, I cannot use DX10 if my scenery is not oging to work!

I would confirm that the FS9 version of KSEA, converted for FSX is mostly compatible with DX10. The Jetway stairs flicker.

The Princess Juliana Airport/St Barths Islands are (with one small patch) fully compatible with DX10.

Thanks for posting the list. When it says "not compatible", it means they have some older FS9 textures installed as ALL .dds textures (FSX) are compatible with DX10. The Addon_Converter should fix that. In regards to Orbx sceneries white runways not compatible, I have not seen this yet. I would be interested to see this incompatibility. Does anyone know where a white runway is located? In regards to Areosoft US Cities Chicago having spikes and instant FPS drops and incompatibility with white runways, I own this product and I can assure you it is NOT FR friendly. You'll have to lower your FSX settings to run this scenery and avoid the memory spikes and FPS drops. What I did is going into the main FSX screen and select settings then I saved the current settings as My_Best_FSX_Settings. I then went into Customize and lowered many of the FR unfriendly settings, then I saved it as Chicago. Now, when flying in this area, I simply load Chicago. If not flying in this area I load My Best FSX Settings. Works great!

 

The information regarding REX is really interesting. I don't understand how it would lose it's theme by switching over to DX10 Preview. I don't own REX (I own FEX and no problem there and I don't have to reinstall the theme).

 

The Addon Converter should take care of all the incompatible aircraft.

Yeah, great list. Let me add one more airport that is NOT compatible...Devinci KSAN X...runway and approns are white. I have tried both versions, the reqular and photoreal versions, photoreal is better and flyable, but needs work. I have been into the Devinci forum and it is a know issue, so mabe a fix soon. Also LatinVFR KMIA: Compatible as is Miami X, looks great. These are with AddonConverterX.

 

Its interesting what you said about REX. I have AS2012 and REX essentials, and I can not make up my mind which one I like better. My point here is I was watching some youtube videos with systems close to mine and looking at the ground textures, and I did not see what I saw in those vids on my sim. So I started looking at my AA settings... Example, FB KSFO, the runway seemed abit washed out, and maybe a hint of blueish, but the textures of the concrete just was not right. Everything else looked great, so maybe a refresh of my theme might work. Going to try that tomorrow. Which brings me to my next question. Can you guys throw out some suggested AA settings for the GTX 560 Ti and i5 2600K that would be great.

 

Also add taxi2gate KSTL to the compatible list. Note, that was the only airport I tested with night textures and the only thing off was the static baggage carts. They were that neon blue. Kind of cool looking, but other than that all looked great.

 

Anyways, yesterday was my first go with DX10 and I was floored. Im sure I got many more questons coming, but I will monitor this forum and post my findings and help as much as I can.

Hey, Brett! Welcome the Elite FSX-DX10 Flying Club!! Thanks for the info on KMIA. I too, have both, but am slowly settling on AS because of the clean (and familiar) interface, plus the major load times, and - the textures aren't all that bad! For me - the best Inspector settings are still the ones recommended in an early post - by Mike Krawczyk.

You can see white runways on YBCS (Cairns) and i believe other ORBX sceneries when you're flying at dusk, dawn and night, i have same problem on it..

 

About REX, i think list's poster said it about waves, because in DX10 mode the color palette is different, but re-applying theme and switching DX10 mode on REX solves it

IMHO , scenery that only are compatible at daytime are not compatible.

 

The list with airports show Schiphol as compatible.

This is not the case at night.

 

If the list is only about daytime compatibility it might be better to write that.

If I may add some more to this list.

These are the results of all 15 UK 2000 Xtreme series airports (I only fly around the UK and Ireland 99% of the time) My FSX setup has GenX/PlayHorizon photo scenery and ES treescapes with the exception of EGPH,EGPF and EGPG. Shader3 and ACX installed. All tested on my system. Others, of course, may find different.

 

All work fine in day/dawn/dusk/night with the exception of Stansted (EGSS) which seems to have rather sparse and dull lighting for the most part at night, but still acceptable.

This is now an older version and an upgrade is in the offing so things may change there.

The UK2000 animated airport traffic does not show textures (greyed) dawn/dusk/night but all textures load during day.

 

Eiresim Luton (EGGW) works only in day.

 

I'll try to add some more when tested.

Sure have a lot of DX10 naysayers which is okay. Testers welcomed! How DX10 is fully compatible with some photoscenery, some FTX/Orbx scenery, and not compatible with other textures is beyond my comprehension. If the scenery was made for FSX, it should be compatible with DX10. There really isn't that much of a change between FSX DX9 and DX10. Just fixed a couple of anomalies and now it works. I think Paul is on the right track that some need to fix their display settings. IMHO, compatibility is in the eyes of the beholder.

Some more testing done on Earth Simulations sceneries.

 

IOS (Isles of Scilly) - works OK except at ground level grass textures show as oblongs. Above ground level OK. night/dusk/dawn OK. Choice is yours :huh:

Channel Islands - Alderny (EGJA) works fine ( one of my favourite places to fly to)

Channel Islands - Guernsey (EGJB) works fine but this is a very complex scenery and your frame rates will be tested :O

Took a jaunt around my favourite spot, this aft - KPDX. This was an FS9 airport, done by the now-defunct FlightZone, and has been repackaged by Anthony Cacciatore and further messed up by me with some early help by DDJose. It's not finished by any means, I'm just not smart enough to know how to add buildings, and AG: it kinda swamps you, there's some much work.

 

Later I did a trip from SEA-BFI-RNT, and then over to Fall City, turning bloom on half-way.

The settings were basically the same for both sceneries, - pretty high, except PDX - road=20, bloom =off. SEA, BFI and RNT are all Comp. with a part of the terminal buildings at PDX, showing blue. AddonConverter wouldn't fix them.

orbx freeware 4wa8 grass is not compatible with dx10. from certain perspectives the grass looks ok but otherwise you'll see tan texture where it should be transparent.
