Prepar3D V3.3.3 Released
V3.3.3 installed with latest FSUIPC and ASN SP5 beta. No problems to report. EZDok works just fine. Shaders folded deleted and rebuilt with ASN SP5 and first start of 3.3.3. No cloud issues to report. Possible improvement with clouds and performance. Saw a small jump in frames with clouds. As to the VAS questions. Didn't notice any major OMG improvements. Couatl updated today and fixes some issues with GSX I did come across. You'll need to reinstall the latest FULL version of GSX. All third party aircraft good to go. Have not come across any issues with 3rd party sceneries. Orbx FTX Global base and vector good to go. Hope this helps some of you on the fence about the upgrade. Brett Wow. Agree 100%.....$$$$, lots of money to be made here. All it takes is for the right minds to work together to build a patch to fix a 20% issue. And I'd be #2 in line to purchase a "patch" for a lack of better words to fix a night texture issue. Honestly. This is a huge opertunity for the right developers to make some serious cash. I just wish I could do it. But I'm just a dumb fireman with a huge passion for flightsim. We can put men on the moon, land rovers on mars, reach the outer edge or our solar system but can't put a finger on a night texture to convert ???? My .02$

Yeah. I'm going to keep up with them and see if anything can be done. But I would imagine if there was a cure Martin would of known. Just have to keep plugging away. I believe there is a cure, we just have to find it.

Lol. No way man..... I'm all DX10....I know what you were saying tho !! I see that Airport Enhancer HDX is in sale. I'm toying with the notion of getting it and see if it will rewrite the code for our little problem. But my gut already knows the answer....NO. It's all an codeing issue for night textures. And AS2012 and REX already add those nice airport textures. But 9 bucks...idk. Might give it a go. I'm a scenery junkie anyhow. Is there support for people like me?? Lol

How to convert DX9 textures to DX10
This might help. This is an email I sent to FlyTampa and their response: Hi Brett Thanks for writing. I installed and tested the current version of the DX10 fix. The main problem that Addon Developers point out as you noticed is the "missing night textures". What we mean by that more specifically is that night textures won't load on legacy BGLs (FS8, FS9). I don't know if you recall, but FSX released without support for legacy BGLs while at the same time not providing a proper way for Addon Makers to render ground polygons. This affects Airport developers in particular since we need to use a lot of ground polygons for things such as pavement, lines, markings etc. After a long battle with Aces, they re-introduced support for legacy BGLs in Service Pack 2. This wasn't the solution I was advocating for.. I would have prefered a new native way of doing it... but it worked. So what you have now is that 80% or so of airports are made using these old ground poly techniques. This is where Night textures apparently don't work. The "ground" of such airports loads grey instead. Meaning it loads the object material, shaded for nighttime.... but not the _lm textures. I just gave it a try with the 3.1.1 script installed and saw no change as far as these ground poly night textures not loading. My name is Brett Lucas, and I own many of your products. I will be brief and try and not waste your time, I have been working close with some gentlemen over in the AVSIM forum, and working on DX10 for FSX and testing some fixes that some of them have come up with. Our big hurdle is the night lighting issue. I was hoping that there would be a possibility that maybe a couple of your developers could help us with this issue. As of now, we have a Shadder mod 3.1.1 that takes care of all flickering, and there is a light fix, but it is not sufficient. The problem is at night the runway lights are a little blocky, and on approach, the runway lights are very dim. Tool Tips
Note. Hiding that bar will give you 5-10 extra farmes. Maybe more. Also when ready. Hold ALT and the top menu will hide too. Side note. For W7 64bit users, remove the Automationcore.dll from your machine. Get rid of it. All my other programs work just fine and not one CTD no matter how hard o tried. PM me for more info. Just FYI!! Happy Halloween everybody. Sorry I have not been as active here in the forum. Just supper busy with life, work, kids and soccer which is in full swing. I have no good news for DX10 night lighting issue. I did hear from FlyTampa and it was not good at all. Have not heard back from Flightbeam nor do I expect to hear from Mir with the announcement of KIAD in the early stages of development. The only good news I have is old regarding KSANX by Devinci. I will email him to see if he had released the DX10 compatiable version. Have not looked myself. Just wanted to drop in and say hello and I have not for got about the "cream of the crop simmers" (DX10 simmers) When I get some more time I will continue the hunt for the magic fix. BOO Brett

"Dx10 Problem TaxiLight"
The problem lays in the gnd polys. When the developers were making the sceneies they were stuck with FS8 and FS9 techniques. I have been in contact with the boys over at FlyTampa and they explained it very well to me. From your picture, the gnd textures are gray and your taxi signs are also gray. And here is the problem. As of now, there is no way to change those textures. With that said, you will find many addon airports with different problems regarding the night light issue. To be short, the plug got pulled on Aces before they could do what needed to be done for GROUND lighting. Your terminals will be fine, it's the way the gnd textures were developed. I'm not a developer, so anyone with a better explaintion please step in, but like I said this is how it was explained to me by lead developers. In short, we are screwed for DX10 at night. Almost every airport would have to be redone with textures that convert to DX10. Hope this helps. You can thank M$ for pulling the plug too early, hence "DX10 Preview". Brett.

MegaScenery X Question please
All MegasceneryX's are DX10 compatible. I have them all, and all are wonderful. As to your Autogen, just leave it where you have it, (your FSX sweet spot). You might notice a small hit in frames but not much at all. I will say, expect a longer load time when starting FSX as it writes the scenery. Also with the Megascenery X, you will notice its a bit washed out but well worth the $$. On the flip side, I have FSDT LAX, Megascenery X SOCAL and now US CitiesX LAX. Flew into LAX in the PMDG MD11 with my Autogen set to dence the other day, no problems. Today, flew into LAX in the NGX but bumped my Autogen to Very Dence, bad idea. Got an OOM on final. So for me Autogen at dence is my sweet spot, (I did not hear FSUIPC warning me so I could bump AG down). Oh we'll. it happens. Like to know my limits and found it to day. But that also leaves me wondering if the NGX eats more MEM than the MD11. Pretty sure it does. And is it me or does the 24's look worse than the 25's in KLAX. I've picked up on this twice now. Weird. Anyhow. Enjoy your new Megascenery. You're gonna love it. Brett

I might bring this up to Mir over at FB and let him know the both his awesome sceneies ARE DX10 compatiable. Maybe all he is saying is its done in DX9 format. Just poor wording. But I will say his KPHX is the best airport by far. It's just amazing to me what he was able to do. Wish I had those skills. I'd live to see more gamer programmers like Mir come to flightsim to do what they do best. I'm not taking anything away from anyone involved in FS design but these guys that make Halo and COD have a very special talent!! Brett
