August 30, 201213 yr How about some advice on add-on traffic programs. Back before my computer crash, I had quite a bit of AI along with routes and timetables that I wrote, but I don't want to go through all that with the new system. I'm thinking of just purchasing a canned package and letting it do the dirty work for me. I've looked at several and not being familiar with them, I'm just looking to see what the general consensus is as far as they go. MyTraffic has several different flavors and I'm a bit confused as to which one is best. Also, if I eventually convert to P3D, it looks like I would have to purchase the program again to get it to work. This could just be a misunderstanding of what I've read though. Thanks for your opinions. Thank you. August 30, 201213 yr I am in a similar situation. I also don’t want to rewrite, and finally gave FS9 for good, including most addons I had. I am fully into FSX DX10 and taking one step at a time. I know which addon aircraft, weather and scenery I want, but I am a bit confused as to which Traffic AI to buy/install. Had my mind almost set to UT2, but today I saw Aerosoft's My Traffic 2013. If anybody here has it? please comment. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
August 30, 201213 yr I'll probably get shouted down but before you go payware, I'd give World of Ai a go. http://www.world-of-ai.com/ I bought one of the leading payware FSX AI packages & was horrified at the cartoon like AI models. They were so bad I un-installed it immediately, I don't believe they'll all work [if any] with DX10 though......
August 30, 201213 yr Commercial Member Yeah models aren't that good with Mytraffic at least... Really the reason why I moved from World Of Ai to Mytraffic was bad FPS woai gave to me, these DX10 compatible models seem to be less heavy on FPS even when using DX9. Would have gotten Ultimate Traffic 2 but it lacks many smaller and non scheduled airlines.
August 30, 201213 yr Commercial Member The FSX version of MyTrafficX can be imported into P3D for the most part, certainly I have it working that way. However there is a native P3D version you can buy if you want all the tools to work. Simon www.supertrafficboard.com
September 6, 201213 yr The models used by WoAI [AI Aardvark, Fruitstand etc] are specifically designed NOT to be frame rate hogs. The models I saw in the payware package barely seemed to have been designed at all and the fact they look ugly doesn't necessarily mean they are frame rate friendly - the real achievement is to eliminate the polygons you can't see, not the ones you can and then to manage the essential polygons with multiple levels of detail diminishing with range. Like anything in FSX there's a trade off between AI, your airport scenery, your autogen, your graphics settings etc etc and it's for each person to make their own decisions on that. Personally, I get satisfactory FPS using WoAI from the PMDG 737NGX and that being so, I can't bear to be at the stand or queueing to take off with what looks like a stick insect in front of me. On the other hand, I don't use payware airports - but then, don't they claim to be frame rate friendly too?
September 6, 201213 yr I used WOAI augmented with the HTAI Cessna and other GA models before switching to UT2. My frame rate hit was less under WOAI than UT2. I went with UT2 simply because of the ease of installing all aircraft in one shot rather than separately. If you don't mind the install time, then it's hard to beat WOAI. The schedules may not be the most up to date, but I'm a low and slow flyer so, the commerical aircraft is just there to fill the skies. Ernie
September 6, 201213 yr I use World of AI as has been suggested and perfectly happy with that for my needs. Jason *** Disclaimer: Any resemblence of my views & tech advice to reality are purely coincidental. No living beings or real aircraft where harmed in the making. ***
