So MilViz.. now that you have coded a Pro21... How long before you guys start working on a Avanti P180-II?? :Praying:

The ProLine 21 in the King Air resembles the ProLine 21 in the Avanti in name more than anything else. Even between the King Air C90Gti and the King Air 350i the ProLine 21 has some major differences.

The concept of "plug-n-play" avionics with regards to a specific avionics line is not in line with the real world. Even the Garmin G1000 has major differences across airframes.

Too true, Ed! Mostly they share the same frames, screens, and buttons, as well as the name. He%20He.gif

Ah yes, but the "base" electronics are the same no? The major differences being that they are customized for that particular airframe and engine configuration.

You'd be surprised I currently fly the T-44C which is a C90A retrofitted with the Proline21 Avionics and Collins FMS, and it is pretty plug and play, we still use the steam engine gauges with it and only have two PFDS and 1 FMS and added TACAN capability, its very flexible

While the statement is mostly true for the PFDs, with regards to the MFDs... couldn't be further from the truth.

The MFD for the C90GTi is very different from the MFD for the 350i and the 200s.

The functionality between the C90GTi and the 350i are mostly the same, yet there are capabilities on the 350i MFD that are not on the C90GTi MFD.

None of the engine displays are the same between the two aircraft. Even the scaling for the data is different across the airframes.

Which of course is the beauty of using software to control and draw the displays... B)

Exactly! For example, our MFD doesn't even include engine monitoring because we use the legacy gauges, it's pretty interesting, I have pictures if anyone is interested, shot 6 approaches on the ProLine 21 yesterday, great system.

It may be the 'beauty'... but my original statement still stands: Just because someone has made a ProLine 21 for a specific airframe does not mean it's even remotely ready for use in a different airframe. It rarely is and typically requires a good deal of rewrite to match the new airframe's differences.

While I'm not at liberty to divulge how I know what I do know... I can assure you that the changes would typically require many months of work, assuming a 40 hour work-week.
