By the way, it seems Aerofly is also open format, and its quite easy to modify parameters of planes and etc. I can imagine Jcomm tinkering already! All of us FSX alumni should feel right at home.

I think of flight when in Aerofly, and Aerofly when I am in flight.

But I would not have the ability to make those pleasant comparisons if I just limited myself to one sim.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

If you didn't know this year, Aerofly FS is on Steam. It's been up since October 17, 2012 and you can buy it via download at only $39.99 USD. Seems like a good price to me. To me, Aerofly FS has much more realistic scenery. If it was added into Flight, Flight would probably surpass FSX by longshot, since Flight technically uses the same cfg format as FSX.

Sim features a la carte.

I'll have some clouds from this sim please, a double helping of the flight model from that one and oh! Can I have some nice graphics on the side? :-)

Eheh, a sim à la carte would be great! I would chose:

1) The accuracy of flight parameters and engine modelling plus the excellent appetence for IFR trainning of ELITE

2) The scenery of either AeroflyFS or MS FLIGH, with the accuracy of time of hr/min/day/month/year vs light of ELITE. The mesh of ELITE, Worldwide is also excellent!

3) The weather of MS FLIGHT and AeroFly FS, since both have interesting features that complement - we do not have ridge or convective lift in MS FLIGHT... - probably with some features present in specific soaring sims like silent wings and condor...

4) Missions and activities like in MS FLIGHT. I revisited the missions in FSX when I intalled Gold, and many are a lot more detailled, but I believe the power for that is already in MS FLIGHT, although not fully used...

5) Flight-model wise I would ask for the rotary-wing FD of X-Plane, and a mix of the AeroflyFS and MS FLIGHT flight dynamics for other aircraft, plus the accuracy of the "by the book" flight parameters of ELITE...

Well... See! I didn't even ask for fancy ATC or AI, specially because none of those I already know include such a good system...

Ah! I haven't mentioned DCS p-51, because I do not yet own it... but it looks also very good in many of these aspects!

Been away myself for a few days so welcome back JC Flight kinda gets to you somehow.

I'm with Hook though on, if your that way inclined, FSX gets those that enjoy getting under the hood of either the PC or the sim.

A few months back now I decided that if possible I wanted my FSX experience to perform as, and look as good as it could. After many hours and sleepless nights that goal has been achieved. I think the biggest challenge was filtering out all the noise and sheer amount of information that is readily available within these fine forums. It all boiled down to literally a dozen changes and a few more software additions which lightened the wallet.

However, after being away from Flight for a few weeks while all the above head scratching and spending took place loading Flight and my fav plane the RV was like walking through your front door after being away in a long trip

The funniest thing is that I was finally able to get FSX Gold running smooth as silk, with almost everything maxed out on my PC. It took me just a few minutes to get threre.

On the war of comparisons X-Plane10 vs FSX Gold, I'd say it's useless - both are good simulation platforms, both have great features that somehow complement, and both have limitations and irritating aspects... I'd even dare saying that although I pointed out that the main advantage of X-Plane10 is that it is being actively developed while FSX is stagnated, the truth is that there are important features in FSX that X-plane10 will have to come along a very long and painful track to achieve, if ever, during version 10... Anyhow I have stayed with X-Plane10, even if not starting it that much lately - Aerofly FS and now back MS FLIGHT gets the most of my "flying" time :-)...

But, the truth is - there is something special about MS FLIGHT...
