Md-11 and win7-64

Featured Replies

Hello.

I buyed the md-11 combo at the release of plane some years ago.

This have been my favorite since, and almost the only plane i flying.

I started in fs9, cause my pc at that time could not run fsx.

I had fsx installe on that pc, but it only worked with very low settings, and then the md-11 worked good in fsx too.

I have now built a new pc with power eneogh to run and i innstalled win7 64 bit.

The problem that occure is that when i innstall the md-11 everything looks like it innstalls just fine whem the innstaller runs, but when i start up fsx and the md-11 it is not innstalled correctly.

Looks like the gauges for panels and so on isnt innstalled at all, and the pmdg not shows up in the fsx menu for addons.

Somebody been tru something simular? I have a teory that it have something to do with win7 and how that operating system works, cause this is new to me too.

Hi Oddmund

Very much doubt it has anything to do with Win7 as I have it installed and running absolutely fine on a Win7 64-bit FSX.

Did you install FSX on a separate folder, or you use the default location? Try uninstall then right click on the setup and select "Run As Administrator". I also have Win7 64 and the MD-11 runs fine.

Yea as the above post has suggested install fsx in its own root drive, not the default progrmane folder (86). Also turn of uac as well and run things as admin rights using w7

I installed fsx default, and i think maybe the problem can be that window 7 is so different from xp. Cause this pc is only me using so i was thinking i have all administrators rights, but i have noticed it isnt so.

So if i understand u guys right a solution will be to reinstall fsx with administrators rights and allways make sure i use administrators rights when innstalling something in fsx? Shall the sim, fsx run as a admin as well??

Works like a charm for me too.

Have fsx installed on D:\microsoft flight simulator x (so outside the program files or program files(x86) folder).

Also turned of uac and av and then right click the set up.exe and run as admin.

For any addons install it the same way

The thing is i only formatted 1 station when i innstalled windows, and i dont think possible make a new now. Will it be possible make a mapping in station c but in outside program files and make that work?

Oddmund Karlsen

If you mean you only got one hard drive than as long as you dont install it in the default location ie (86) programne folder install it outside this folder as John has done in the above post. If you have uninstalled fsx its a good idea to use ccleaner afterward to get rid of any leftover regesty files that are left behind, it will save you hassles when you want to re install fsx. ( ccleaner is a free addon).

So if you drive is c than you can install fsx in c:/ fsx for example

Hei Oddmund!

The thing is i only formatted 1 station when i innstalled windows, and i dont think possible make a new now

Not to worry Oddmund, it is possible, and very easy:

Download MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition from http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html

You create, resize and move partitions without affecting the Win7 installation. It's safe, reliable and easy.

I too had problems w/ all PMDG acrft when I moved to 7 and 64, my installers were too old. If you continue to have problems after trying the other suggestions try PMDG and see about updated installers.
