October 25, 201213 yr Hi everyone, If this has been asked, please forgive my post here. I want to install Opus, however, not on a network, but on my FSX rig. Is there any performance impact running on the same machine as FSX? I just installed Flight 1's EnvironmentX last night, so can't wait to install Opus FSX now. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance. Best, Jeff PS.... i just realized I hit over 1,000 posts! It's about time.

October 25, 201213 yr Hello Jeff: I installed it this morning and it blew me away. (That is a good thing!) While waiting for FSX & OPUS to load, I looked out my office window to see a low overcast with just traces of underlying cumulus. No sun. I was blown away when FSX opened up and gave me the exact conditions I was seeing out my window. First time that has ever happened. To answer your question. My install was on a standalone PC. No network. Your going to love it! Chris

October 26, 201213 yr Author WOW is all I can say. Thanks guys. It took me a while poking around to figure out how to get Opus realtime weather running, but did find it. I've never used a weather engine like this before, so was a bit clueless. I actually had full overcast for the first time. I have my cloud density set to 12 in my FSX cfg, which I would assume helps the cloud situation to be more dense. The only thing I need to figure out now is how to avoid wind surges that cause overspeed conditions. This happened in the NGX. I'll most likely check my FSUIPC for that unless it's in the program itself. Anyway, what a great piece of software. Still have lots to learn yet. Hopefully will have some time over the weekend providing not too many Honey-Do lists! Thanks for your replies again. Best, Jeff
October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Jeff, If you have wind shifts then just make sure the Relax Surface Wind Smoothing in the Weather dialog is unticked, and set the Max Speed and Direction for the wind smoothing to 15 knots and 15 degrees, then you can tweek it from there. If you still have problems then you can also set a transition and recovery altitude for the winds, refer to our Live Weather user guide for details. Regards Cheryl

My experience with the REX weather engine in reproducing local conditions has not been so good.
