November 5, 201213 yr Author Firstly I must apologise to all members for omitting to sign my posts with my real name an oversight on my part which I will not repeat. Your lights look great Extremme thanks for the input however I have not yet tried putting the line offered by VeryBumpy which I will do next, I will then post the results, once again my thanks to all who have offered advice. November 5, 201213 yr Leslie: I don't have anything in my Virtual Cockpit configuration nor in my panel.cfg. I don't need shockwave light in my VC. Just the entries I suplied in the AIRCRAFT.cfg of each plane model. chemanuel
November 5, 201213 yr Author Hi Chemanuel, you can see the lines I have entered and the lights have not changed at all, are you saying that with the entries I have in the Aircraft Config that the lights should work. Leslie.
November 5, 201213 yr Leslie, As previously mentioned by VeryBumpy, you ALSO need to add an entry in the Panel config file. I haven't done any lately so things are a bit fuzzy but see his post and also A2A's ShockWave Lights User Guide which contains information on that step (on my copy, the info is on page 5). JJ Jean-Jacques CYND, Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
November 5, 201213 yr As previously mentioned by VeryBumpy, you ALSO need to add an entry in the Panel config file. Are we talking about 3D lights redux? Because I use it without problems and I never needed to modify this file.
November 5, 201213 yr Javier, What can I say other than to offer you the actual quote from the 3D Lights Redux manual: Quote PANEL.CFG Add the following line at the bottom of the [VCockpit01] section changing 'XX' to the next available number gaugeXX=shockwave_lights!SW lights, 1,1,1,1 // shockware light or if the landing lights are attached to the UC legs or doors and they go out automatically on the stock lights when the UC is raised then: gaugeXX=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1 // shockware light End of Quote JJ Jean-Jacques CYND, Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
November 5, 201213 yr Author Xtremme, I have tried it with and without the panel entry and it makes no difference whatsoever, I am totally at a loss what to try next, you guys all seem to just enter the lines in the Aircraft config and bingo it works, but not for me. By the way Javier, we are talking about the 3D lights Redux. Les
November 5, 201213 yr Make sure you are putting all these entries in the proper airplane and panel config files. Put them in the wrong plane variant and it won't work.
November 5, 201213 yr @Jean I see, it' weird tho because as I said before works for me without need to modify that file. @Leslie Try this at simobjects/airplanes/PMDG 737-800NGX/aircraft.cfg [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin light.0 = 4, 47.000, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.1 = 4, 45.000, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.2 = 2, -130.000, 0.090, 5.989, fx_strobe_pmdg, //Aft Strobe light.3 = 1, -51.750, 0.000, 8.700, fx_beaconh_pmdg, //Top Beacon Blink light.4 = 1, -65.900, 0.000, -5.600, fx_beaconh_pmdg, //Bottom Beacon Blink light.5 = 3, -79.000, -55.665, 2.100, fx_navred_pmdg, //Left Nav Light red light.6 = 2, -80.000, -55.986, 2.100, fx_strobe_pmdg, //Left Strobe light.7 = 3, -79.000, 55.665, 2.100, fx_navgre_pmdg, //Right Nav Light green light.8 = 2, -80.000, 56.200, 2.100, fx_strobe_pmdg, //Right Strobe light.9 = 3, -84.800, -56.737, 1.800, fx_navwhi_pmdg, //Left Position Light light.11 = 3, -84.800, 56.691, 1.800, fx_navwhi_pmdg, //Right Position Light light.12 = 3,-130.000, -0.090, 5.989, fx_navwhi_pmdg, //Aft Position Light light.13 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light light.14 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx // Shockwave light light.15 = 6, 42.60, 0.00, -5.45, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_small.FX // Shockwave light light.16 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light light.17 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light // Shockwave light
November 6, 201213 yr Author I will try this Javier but, that is exactly where I have been putting the lights text, and as I stated earlier even removing the lights section from this config file does not seem to have any effect on the lights displayed, really strange. Les Wilson
November 6, 201213 yr You could try reinstalling 3D Lights, or maybe your graphics settings are too low? Sorry, nothing else comes to my mind right now.
November 6, 201213 yr Use mine they work perfect!, It took me a couple of nights just trying to get them to look nice... Just copy and paste each section in the config file of each aircraft.... they are different aircraft to aircraft due to the difference in size. therefore you need a configuration for each plane... looking Eastern bird! I'm not sure where all the confusion is here regarding the Shockwave lights and the NGX. First of all, the Shockwave software does not automatically configure the NGX lights. It does configure the default aircraft in FSX. The entires do have to be placed in the aircraft.cfg file as mentioned for each model. The only lights you can really work with on the NGX are the landing and taxi lights. The rest are programmed into the model file. That way the wing lights will move when the wings flex. Looking at several of the suggested configurations here, they appear to be workable settings. Just make sure you are replacing the original [LIGHTS] section in the aircraft.cfg file with the ones suggested. If I can put my finger on my settings (-600 through -900), I'll add them to this post. I'm at work, so I'll have to search a little. Here they are: -600 [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin light.0 = 4, 32.390, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.1 = 4, 30.890, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.4 = 6, 27.60, 0.00, -6.00, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light -700 [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin light.0 = 4, 37.014, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.1 = 4, 35.014, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.4 = 6, 32.60, 0.00, -6.00, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light -800 [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin light.0 = 4, 47.000, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.1 = 4, 45.500, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.4 = 6, 42.60, 0.00, -6.00, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light -900 [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin light.0 = 4, 51.500, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.1 = 4, 50.000, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight light.2 = 5, 4.50, -8.24, 0.32, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.3 = 5, 4.50, 8.16, 0.30, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.4 = 6, 46.80, 0.00, -6.00, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_old.fx // Shockwave light light.5 = 5, 5.70, 3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light light.6 = 5, 5.70, -3.65, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short.fx // Shockwave light Steve StubbsUSAF (retired)
November 7, 201213 yr Can you confirm, as has been stated here, that you are trying to set the LIGHTS in your aircraft.cfg found in the SimObjects/Airplanes folder under each aircraft type - e.g., 800, 800WL, 600, etc? This is the only place I had to add these lights. I did not need to make any changes to the panel. Not arguing with the info reproduced here from the manual, just saying editing each A/C config file did the job for me. The lights offered by Steve and Srdan both work. November 8, 201213 yr Author Tried them Javier, sadly to no effect, something with my setup is obviously preventing the lights from being changed, as I stated previously it appears to make no difference to the lights no matter what I put in the simobjects/airplanes/PMDG 737-800NGX/aircraft.cfg, I have been wondering if it is anything to do with the fact that I have removed the FSX 737 aircraft altogether, having said that the PMDG 747X lights work fine so I am giving this one up for now. Many thanks to all who have tried to help. Les Wilson.
