November 5, 201213 yr WOOHOO!! A new AOTD and this one is in Alaska. Don't know if this is one of the player submitted ones or if it was in the original mix, but glad to see it. Enjoy. Thank you. November 5, 201213 yr Author I just collected this AOTD and I can say it's a good one. Beautiful scenery especially if you select dawn as the time. Lots to see in and around the area. I hope the future Alaska AOTD's are in areas as nice as this one. Please post your opinions here. I'm interested in what everyone else thinks about this. Thank you. November 5, 201213 yr I was faced with the update upon starting Flight. A sweat broke across my forehead, but it went OK. Had to do a quick refresher course in keystrokes vs. FSX and then off I went. Nice to see a new AoTD. Because, as we all know, however humble it might be, there's no place like Nome!
November 6, 201213 yr Nice to see a new AoTD. Because, as we all know, however humble it might be, there's no place like Nome! <groan> Ok, fired up Flight for the first time since September 19, got updated, agreed to the new TOS. Not all keys worked at first, and there were low frame rates for a while. But everything eventually smoothed out just fine. Like meshman I had to relearn the key commands, mostly by trial and error, but I was soon flying without problems. That was indeed a pretty area. I got the retired dredge, then found out I didn't have Cone Island yet, so flew and got that. My game says 168 aerocaches, the web site says I have 169. There should be a few people around who have a few more, because I ignored the AotD after it started having problems. I never saw the dredge aerocache, but was flying where I figured it had to be and got it without ever seeing the spinning icon. Used right at 1/4 tank of fuel in the Stearman for the two flights. There was a fly-in and air show at the local airport Saturday. One of the planes was the Stearman from Cavanaugh Museum at Addison (KADS) in the same yellow paint scheme as the default in Flight. They offered rides for $250. Maybe some day; Addison isn't that far away. Between the new AotD and seeing the real Stearman, I just had to do some flying in Flight. I've been flying a Searey in FSX, and interestingly enough one showed up at the fly-in, even in the same colors I'm using. I got to chat with the pilot a bit, and the pilot of the Stearman as well. By the time they arrived I was too tired to remember 99% of the questions I had. The Searey pilot had also flown a Stearman extensively, and I asked about the roll rate. "Very slow, and it takes both hands on the stick because of the back pressure." Interesting. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
November 6, 201213 yr I selected free flight and the Icon. Read the hint and took off on 3. Just started maintaining runway heading and looking around at the scenery from the cockpit view. Spotted something that looked like it could be the dredge and saw the Aerocache. It was my attention to turn right for a ways and then come in low for screenshots but acquired the cache as I began the turn. Jim
November 6, 201213 yr Of course I had to land and check it out. The usual fantastic attention to detail that we have come to expect out of Flight! The broken windows, the wire rigging, the sand buckets, etc. Not just here but evey where you look in this world. Even the most out of the way airfields that a lot of people will never even see. I am just always amazed by the work and dedication that went into this sim.
November 6, 201213 yr I believe Luis has once posted a photo of the Dredge site to emphasize the attention to detail MS FLIGHT has... Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
