November 6, 201213 yr Folks, I've been reading that Prepar3D does "multi-channel" which, if I understand this correctly (Please don't let me be starting a bad rumour here :-) ) enables you to combine multiple, networked PCs to run different views (aka Wideview). Some questions for the gurus out there: - Have I understood this correctly ? - Anyone have any links to text on the matter - I can't seem to find anything ? - Related to the above, I can't seem to find any documentation with my Prepar3D install - am I being really dumb here ? - Any other info relating to this "multi-channel" much appreciated Answers on a postcard - preferably a large one with lots of details/experiences !!! Keep the shiny side up ! Rob
January 27, 201313 yr OK - I must be blind or stupid, becuase I have searched the entire Prepar3D Learning Center and can't find this. You would be invaluable in telling me where in the learning center this is found. Can you email me at [email protected] ? I truly apprecciate your help. Jim
January 27, 201313 yr OK - found it. Turns out that Lockheed has two different Learning Centers, one for the application and the other for the SDK and I was looking at only the SDK. HOWEVER - even though I have followed each step in the documents precisely (or not?). I can't get this to work. Help ! Anyone open to supporting this effort with a phone call?

Funny thing that...i have been trying to get an answer to the exact same question for over a year! I cannot understand why in the heck someone cannot simply write a step by step newbies tutorial for setting up a home simulator with 3 computers? How flaming hard is it for someone to do that??? Merely telling us it can be done, then launching into some computer nerd jargon bender (which leaves the likes of me in the clouds whistling dixie and scratching my head) is driving me absolutely nuts. It makes me so angry i want to shout and swear at someone. Anyone will do...even my dog!!!
March 23, 201313 yr Does this means one could split a VC imagine over several PCs ? Or does multichannel only works for outside views ?
March 23, 201313 yr I think you will need an academic licence for each client computer which can make the project quite pricey compared to say Wideview. I am actively thinking about multiple monitors and (perhaps) will go for the monthly developer package which allows two computers so can test the concept before deciding. Gordon
March 23, 201313 yr Doesn't wideview also requires one license per client ? Wideview is an external module. It requires one license for the master computer, client computer doesn't requires license of Wideview. But P3D as FSX requires one license per computer. So... if you have a 3 computers setting with P3D and Wideview, you need 3 P3D licenses and 1 Wideview license. If you have a 3 computers setting with P3D and "multi-channel" integrated setting, you need also 3 P3D licenses. Hope this helps. Pierre Pierre LFBE
March 23, 201313 yr Commercial Member I guess the plus side is it would relieve one from the "stretched" side views when using setups involving Eyefinity or Surround. Down side is you might not only have to purchase three separate P3D's but then a separate copy of every add-on to load on each PC. Just the installing and maintenance makes my head shutter. Think that's one reason I am sticking with Surround. When I am "in-game" the immersion is quite good with the wrap-around and since my eye's are focused on the front screen the side views just fill up my peripheral vision so I am quite happy for now. What resolution / fps are you getting and what addon do you typically run ?What do you think would be the advantage of a TH2go setup versus a surround set up ?Best
March 24, 201313 yr Commercial Member FPS on average are very good. Way better than I ever experienced with FSX. I can maintain a 29.9 FPS (lokcked at 30) on say a typical flight with AI, Opus weather, settings mid-high to far right. But I can knock it down to mid teens (still flyable), in congested areas or heavy duty airports... say FSTD KLAX with MegaScenery SoCal, Mega City LA, traffic 23%, AI 70%, GA 40% probably in mid-teens. If it goes too low I can always close down the 3D VC and just use my cockpit hardware and just use the three displays as an "outside view". There are times when I do have to go back to a single screen depending on add-ons being used. You can still bring the flightsim to its knees if you try to add too much stuff. Just depends. But I like that I have created options for the smoothest experience or the greatest detail depending on my mood. Don't have any experience with the TH2G stuff so you will have to ask elsewhere. May 8, 201511 yr Did anyone find anything like a manual/instruction/guide/anything at all, about how this P3D multichannel system can be set up? I've been searching all afternoon, but I only find it can be done, but not how, or where to find any info about it... Cheers! Maarten
