How many activation's do PMDG products come with?

My hard drive was recently formatted because my computer had to be repaired. I then installed FSX and my NGX and 747X. Around sometime last week, I learnt that installing FSX out of the original x86 folder was better than using the default area. I would like to uninstall FSX ( and all my addons) and re install it on a path like C:\FSX but I have already used up 2 activation's on both products and I am not sure if I would be able to activate both the aircraft after I'm finished re-installing FSX.

Is it? Mine is installed under Program Files(x86) without any problems.

 

Ask yourself this - are YOU having any problems? If not, leave it as it is. I'm fairly sure you would have encountered something by now if UAC (the root cause of the problem) was causing YOU problems.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Completely about 5 times now because of crashes and corrupted graphics trying to change one thing at a time to get it to run properly.I hope I can rely on getting enough chances to solve my problems otherwise I will wish I bought the cd version. Surely if you have paid for a download the activation should last forever otherwise it is called renting.

I am sure the PMDG support will be able to supply a new activation code, I presume they can do a search for yourself to verify authenticity of the original product.

 

As for the software actually working, whilst I am sure (and I obviously do not speak for pmdg) that they will probably do their best to help with configuring it to run properly, I geuss (although I've not read them) that the terms include that they cannot warranty that your system will be compatible with the software. I.e. that it is actually going to work - because if it is a hardware issue they obviously can not

warranty that it will work on all systems and on all driver software. I would equally be as frustrated if having bought it, it wasn't compatible or didn't run.

 

Whilst I do recall some text saying that electronic delivery is not refundable, maybe if all fails and you ask nicely you never know....

 

That said, from a UK perspective, regardless of what is said like "no refunds can be given" there are some laws here which would ordinarily support a compulsary refund of monies paid, in particular what is the Distance Selling Regulations which could be enforced regardless of whether they say no refunds are available or not, however, this would not apply in this case, as the server is american based, and as it is located in america it will be the laws of the US that apply, I am not so familiar with those laws so couldn't help on that afront.

maybe you shoud next time burn the download to a cd than than you dont have to worry about downloading it again,

Ugh! I now hate hearing of someone else chasing one of these myths. When REX Essential Plus was set for release I read in the installation instructions that it was highly recommended to install REX somewhere other than within Program Files (x86). That was exactly where I had my previous version of REX. So I went through the detailed and explicit REX uninstall instructions, waited for an all-inclusive (versus incremental update) download, and when it became available I installed REX E+ from scratch under c:\. I have nothing but hours of frustration attempting to get it to install textures with any of the three Water options or with DXT5 selected for clouds. I have yet to be successful after 5 weeks of "try this" "try that". Lesson learned. Leave well enough alone and don't chase myths.

Yeah you should probably contact PMDG support, they'll take care of the problem.
