Switch to Nvidia! :biggrin:

In all seriousness, I wish I could help but I don't have much experience with AMD.

In all seriousness, I wish I could help but I don't have much experience with AMD.

This is what I'm about to do. The only problem I've had with anything is AMD drivers. Do a search for it and there are literally thousands of people who have this issue. If you install over top of the existing you either have driver wrapper, ccc, mom or any number of other issues not working.

Freeware developer Pompeii, Italy and Mount Vesuvius (pompeii_italy.zip) and A380 Flight plans (ai_a380_flightplans_redux.zip).

Before making this in to an AMD/ATI agains Nvidia thread.... (seriously Ben Cap, why did you even bring it up again, especially since the rest of the post doesn't add much to the thread :P)... For all those 'thousands' of people there are tens of thousands without any issues. And for each person with AMD problems there's an Nvidia-user counterpart. I've been using AMD cards in my desktops and laptops for about six years now, not a single problem. I've also had an extra laptop with an Nvidia card for about 2 years, also no problems. About 90% of problems you will find around the net are caused by the person sitting in front of the screen :P.

Are you seriously trying to compare a laptop graphics card to a desktop? Care to share any links to prove what you're saying?

Read up on AMD's website for how to install a driver CORRECTLY? It involves uninstalling the old driver. Not installing a new over old.

Got a direct link?

I don't go looking for graphics drivers. When the CCC tells me there's a new one (and I know it doesn't have issues with whatever I'm running at the time), I click on the update button and let it do the install. I don't mess around with manual uninstall/install/update/whatever. The CCC is either doing it wrong or it's uninstalling without telling me about it. Or there isn't a problem.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

As I understand it, AMD drivers uninstall the old drivers as part of the install process so messing with cleaners is unnecessary. I believe nVidia employ the same system now.

:biggrin: Hooky, you lil' devil! I had a good look too..nothing. All you'll find about uninstalling drivers is about when you install a new graphics card!

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

Are you seriously trying to compare a laptop graphics card to a desktop? Care to share any links to prove what you're saying?

1. I'm saying good things about both brands and about both desktop and laptop cards and this is your response?

2. Where are your links to support your earlier statement?

Seriously, I'm just saying that both brands have their own batch of users with problems, and a multitude of users without any problems whatsoever.... Stop trying to blame it on the brand as it will be the person in front of the screen that's causing the problem 9 times out of 10. So can we stop about the solution being to switch to another brand and just try to help?

It's all there at AMD.......For uninstalling existing drivers;

Remove old drivers First, from control panel >programs and features, . same instructions as Nvidia.

The complete guide for all situations is here;

The first article you quote is from 2010... Over the past two years I've been installing drivers on top of the older ones without any issues. The second article links again to the first outdated one. The installer package scans for installed elements, checks if they need an update, and will remove the old version before installing the newer version. The steps in either of those articles are Cover Your &@($*-steps and mostly only needed when troubleshooting.

Now, ontopic:

I'm interested in what the result will be of removing the BB Capture Driver, as that seems a likely ticket out of this problem.

Absolute rubbish, this is the current method, as posted by AMD, October 2012, if you bother to look at the second ( so called outdated link) you will see you are correct about about installing new drivers, YES, they state there is no need to uninstall first,

some one wanted the link about uninstalling, so i posted the link,

this is a pointless argument.

I have no idea where this is going,

So can we stop about the solution being to switch to another brand and just try to help?

yes..... YES... my point exactly thank you Jasper.

My involment here is to try and help Jean Claude fix his problem ,isn't that the point of this forum, not to get into a stupid argument over methods which are well posted on AMD, yes, Jasper, that is my only concern, to help Jean Claude resolve his problem, that is my only interest in this post. And I will continue to help despite the many distractions and crap about whatever, whatever Jean-Claude did wrong is totally irrelevant, he is asking for help, That is what we should all be doing, helping a fellow simmer to solve his problem, not argue about, what should have been/could have been rubbish.

Any way, I need a beer, :drinks:

Best regards

Ron.

If I click the first link I get article GPU-57 from 2010. If I then click the second link and read through it, for all situations, they refer back to that article GPU-57 at some point. That's all I'm saying :P. Was not a personal attack or anything, apologies if I came across a bit harsh.

Sorry for my rant, :blush: I'm going to blame it on Xmas drinks in the hot Sun...oops. :wacko:

I went to AMD just a minute ago to look here,

http://support.amd.c...DriversFAQ.aspx it's dated 11/26/2012, updated 2 days ago, yes, they still give GPU-57 as being from 2010.

my mistake :rolleyes: , but all it means is, they haven't changed the method, I was looking at the website date.

apologies again,

Ron.

ps. where are you Jean Claude?

Hi Ron, I am... on a hospital bed...

Not a joke really, that eye problem fell on my head suddenly and without warning, hence my silence for the past three days. I had the time Sunday to eliminate the driver from B&B do the complete uninstall and reinstall but again the D... message no 3D acceleration available...

Ron, I am now 4000 km away from my PC and probably so for the next three to four weeks, so now my priority number 1 is going to get through my health problem and whenever I shall be back home I will take care of my PC health.

Once again I want to express my most sincere gratitude for all the help I received from you Ron and Jasper in particular, it feels good to receive such help from people who are so dedicated to the hobby!

Cheers friends, I'll be back later!
