November 16, 201213 yr Run your installers again. I don't know what was changed or fixed, just that's it out. Rob
November 16, 201213 yr It fixed my mouse cursor which was a strange flat double arrow in the last. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 16, 201213 yr A good bookmark to have is the X-Plane Release Notes page... Details all the goodies of a release. -G
November 17, 201213 yr It seems that 64bit finally unleashed my Linux computer's power, enjoy: more shots: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/391475-xplane-10-64bit-first-experiments-dr400-over-paris/ Pascal
November 17, 201213 yr Superb! Is that default OSM - My Paris doesn't look like that :-/ Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
November 17, 201213 yr Superb! Is that default OSM - My Paris doesn't look like that :-/ No, by default X-Plane only knows about OSM roads, not buildings. The buildings here are extracted from OSM with Benny's OSM2XP. Great software ! But this kind of scenery uses a lot of RAM, which is the reason why it was unusable in XP 32bit. (because of virtual memory limit). The roads are default though.
November 17, 201213 yr Superb! Is that default OSM - My Paris doesn't look like that :-/ Well, it is one of the many OSM settings, that we use in europe, together with an orthphoto scenerie. These settings are now so commonh that even publishers start to test their airports always together with OSM data. From version to version the OSM maps contain more and more data and this data is better mapped to the OpenScenery. It is more or less uncommon to only use the default autogen, since the bu8ildings simply don't look like european buildings. As Pascal already said it can use a ridiculous amount of RAM in bigger cities. I think many people will have to increase their RAM 8 GB won't be sufficient in the near future... In fact with 10.20 I was for the first time able to really use Aerosofts EHAM together with the OSM settings. Previously there was always "Scenery loading disabled".... Karsten Schubert
November 17, 201213 yr Sorry, Jcomm I just noticed in another post that you use OSM2XP as well. I used a file for Europe, found here: http://forum.aerosof..._40#entry384806 Also, I've edited the buildings textures, this is a work in progress.
November 17, 201213 yr Wow! What's the FPS at that screenshot? A Simulator running like that at 30fps would be the closest to reality in terms of outside world! Alexis Mefano
November 17, 201213 yr Awesome shots Pascal ! :Applause: But this kind of scenery uses a lot of RAM, which is the reason why it was unusable in XP 32bit. (because of virtual memory limit). +1 I reduced the "LOD" of my OSM2XP sceneries, and in areas like Paris, I increased the minimum size of displayed buildings. That was a nice workaround to be able to use the sceneries on the 32-bit version. Now, a lot more is possible with more RAM: a greater view distance and more small buildings.B) Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -
November 17, 201213 yr Wow! What's the FPS at that screenshot? A Simulator running like that at 30fps would be the closest to reality in terms of outside world! Heheee, bad indeed That was an experiment. Between 7 and 20 fps. 13 most of the time. The idea was to try the extreme. But next GPU generation should handle that without a hiccup (coupled with good motherboard and CPU of course, and big RAM !) More ennoying is the fact that my computer has to swap a lot. I looked at the memory usage, and noticed absolutely all RAM was used ! 8Gb ! Go figure !

November 17, 201213 yr Pascal,That's a Gorgeous Shot! Well Done!! 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick
November 17, 201213 yr Heheee, bad indeed That was an experiment. Between 7 and 20 fps. 13 most of the time. Well, with more RAM you might even get a slightly higher frame rate. The cache handling can really help in an OSM context. At least this was my observation in Amsterdam after I added more RAM. Maybe in 5 years!! I would say 2 perhaps 3 years, but no more. You can expect improvements in the rendering too, but there will probably be more and more additional 3D buildings that add to these plausible sceneries, too. Karsten Schubert
November 17, 201213 yr Maybe in 5 years!! Not that long, really. I'm pretty sure that the next generation GPU will get 20-30 fps with the same scenery. And all graphical options where set to max or nearly max. I can already get a lot more frames without really sacrifying visuals. For example, if I just change the shadows setting to "aircaft only", I get very consistant 18-20 fps.
