1,000 landings

Featured Replies

I just got the 1,000 landings Award.

I did the last 50 to get over the hump with the Carbon Cub. I picked some long runways and using full flaps did constant touch and goes. All that is needed is to take off with full power, clear the runway, cut the power, shove the stick forward, flare and touch down. As soon as the wheels hit the runway add power and do it again and again. When you run out of space, climb out, crank a tight 180 and land again. Fun to see how many times you can repeat the process in the length of the runway. Don't stall out! Of course it could be done on the water also I think as long as you use the CC.

Hey, that's cheating! Anyway, the real challenge is repeating the proces in the width of the runway :P OK, OK, based on that bearded joke: Pilot exclaims, "This must be the shortest runway I've ever landed on!" Copilot looking left and right, "Yeah, and about the widest, too..."

That's some achievement. I just passed the 500 mark and was pleased with that. Looks like I need to start flying more or else use your trick.

Thank you.

Rick

It's not as easy as it sounds. It does take some concentration to keep the center line and not stall or come down to hard and plant the nose.

Congrats-I just looked at my rw logbook and I count 1404 total landings in 24 years of flying.

Isn't it amazing you can condense all that on a computer sim in a much smaller time frame?

I was told that once by a cfi at some point that my simming experience gave me the experience of one with many, many thousands of hours more-I agree. We are so lucky-for all the sims out there! Fly on!

Landings are my favorite part ..landings-1.png

That's not the only thing where we beat you, Geof. I have over 170 crashes in my list. :LMAO: And there are others with many more than that.

I bet you don't have even 1 crash in your logbook.

Best regards.

Maybe I should not mention this but I have 854 crashes in 170 flying hours in the game. 13 times out of fuel. 177 aerochaches to date.

For flight simming, I've had lots of crashes. Most were from flying into blind canyons with rising terrain, and without the power of a F-16. I knew that if the model was anywhere near accurate...........that I wouldn't make it out. For the most part, the models were accurate enough.

My next successful landing (544) will - finally - elevate me to a 1:1 landings to crashes ratio. I'm getting kind of nervous thinking about it now.
