I installed 306.23 after my initial post - for some reason I am getting better performance and no CTD after flying EGLL - ELLX - EGLL - EGCC

I'm going to stick with these since this machine is FS only. I have 16XS 4xSS and 16AF everythings smooth and working well.

Cheers

Just keep in mind that new drivers are likely doing nothing for FSX - it's a 6 year old game that is probably not even on their radar for any changes, so any improvement seen is going to be either a byproduct of a change that improves overall performance or quality in any game, or it's just placebo effect. These specific drivers were released to improve performance and compatibility for people playing the new games that just came out in the last few weeks/days like Planetside 2, Far Cry 3, etc.

You are assuming that I was refferring to FSX.... I am talking about the drivers collectively. No more crashing on my 660Ti... No artifacts etc

Yep same here on my new 670FTW. Nvd3dum CTD will happen after a while if I use the FS menu.

I have tried so many drivers but still have the same issue, I also followed Ryan's instructions regarding reinstalling the drivers. My 560TI worked perfectly but i have given it away already :(

What drivers we're you using prior to the Nvd3dum errors? I would like to give them a try.

Cheers

I also have the GTX670FTW and was having issues/crashes/BSODs with 310.XX drivers. Back to 306.97 and issue free.

I can now confirm that the beta drivers were causing the CTDs on loading for me. I swapped back to the 306.97 WHQL drivers and the crashes disappeared.

Note: This doesn't mean everyone running the beta drivers will experience a CTD, I just wanted to add my own experiences in case someone wanted to know.

Farcry3 is the most amazing beautiful open world game ever created.

Agree!!

Is it OK to install new drivers directly on top of old ones? I am currently using 306.97 and would like to try these. If I wanted to downgrade again would it then be best to uninstall the driver before downgrading

Thanks

Richard

It's perfectly OK to install the new drivers without uninstalling first.

The days of having to uninstall to re install are over....

Thanks Guys,

Will try later. So am I also right in assuming that if I wish to return to an older driver I can just install over the top of a newer driver?

  • 4 weeks later...

Is anyone else running into FSX crashing very occasionally on loading a flight with the 310.xx series drivers? It seems like this started for me after switching from the 306 WHQL drivers to the 310 series (I have 310.64 installed right now but I tried the first couple of 310.xx releases) Specifically what happens, right at 100% on the loading bar, FSX.exe crashes, in the module NVd3dum.dll (part of the Nvidia display driver.)

It's not a show stopper since it happens maybe one out of every ten flights loaded, but it's still really annoying.

Yes!! This is exactly what happens on my system. I haven't been able to find many other users with the same issue. For now I am just not using the 310 series drivers.
