December 4, 201213 yr Hey Guys, Sorry if I make a few mistakes in my first post. I first of all just want to say thank you to PMDG for creating such amazing aircraft. Since I made my way up to Yellowknife to visit Buffalo Airways (Ice Pilots) and put to work I was just so excited to work with the war birds that flew. Since PMDG has a secret project "PMDG DC-6B" I would like to know if there training manuals will be as detailed as the 737NGX or Boeing 777. If so is there a date in when the manuals will be released. I have read a bunch of forums how PMDG doesn't like to give release dates or anything but this would be something im very interested to know. Thanks, Kyle K
December 4, 201213 yr Commercial Member Welcome to the forums, Kyle. I'd say I doubt it will come with detailed manuals like the NGX. Douglas is long since gone, and I'm sure many of the DC-6 manuals are gone as well. Then again, they could surprise us and send it off with them included as I'm not sure they'd be copyrighted anymore. Then again, this will be a light product, so I'm again, not sure. I'd expect more of what we saw with the JS4100. Some good reading, but I don't think you're going to get a duplicate of the whole manual. Kyle Rodgers

December 5, 201213 yr Commercial Member You're welcome. My word isn't official, but based on the past - lighter - releases, I'd bet on simplified manuals rather than the whole set. They might just surprise us, though. Who knows... Kyle Rodgers
December 5, 201213 yr Author Oh no I agree. I was just looking at there website tonight, and saw just how big there package for the Boeing 747, 737, and 777 worth of flight manuals they have. If its $473 worth of it, and they had it for a DC-6B. Id order it for sure.
December 5, 201213 yr I wouldn't doubt that Boeing would keep a copy in their archives after the Douglas merger, they might even have DC-3 manuals stashed away in some file cabinet. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight

There are alot of cargo airlines in Alaska and Africa stilling using these old DC-6's, even they might have them no?
December 5, 201213 yr Commercial Member The manuals must exist as they are in commercial operation. Lite product or not - manuals detailing the systems would be nice! Best regards, Robin.
December 5, 201213 yr They do, C118A for the military version is around on the net. http://www.vietnam.ttu.edu/virtualarchive/items.php?ui=N003720f About 1/3 on the page, Item Number: 2970105005. Flight Manual: USAF Series C-118A and VC-118A Aircraft (Sections 1-4) - June 15, 1962 Free download.
December 5, 201213 yr Commercial Member Fair points. Just to clarify - note, I didn't say "all." Kyle Rodgers

December 5, 201213 yr Author All very good points for-sure. But yes a detailed manual like a 777 would be awesome like the other user said. I'm sure someone who is used to flying a 737 would get lost in a DC-6. I love piston pounders, so for me I get lost just trying just trying to start up and fly a 737 NGX. But yes if detailed manuals exist like we say they do, I do hope PMDG gets them. I'll show em to Buffalo and see what they think of them. As well has anyone bought the Training Manuels from PMDG, like 777 or 737? Just want to know how well they are? And if they are really really detailed like the real ones you get from Boeing? December 6, 201213 yr Gday Kyle Its my understanding that the manuals are from boeing, so you cant get any better than that. I also love the big radials, and looking forward to the challenge of flying the DC6. jeff jeff atkinson
December 6, 201213 yr The manuals must exist as they are in commercial operation. And they are most likely revised on a regular basis as well. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
