05/12 - Happy Anniversary

 

Today's AotD McCall Glacier, 05/12,

sees the release of the 200th unique Aerocache !

 

Thats potentially 607,700 XPs you could have earned, (inc. Curvature of the Earth).

 

Of those 200 aerocaches -

- 53 are the original 'FreeFlight' aerocaches

- 147 are unique 'Aerocache Of the Day'.

 

Of those 147 unique AotDs -

- 100 have been available two or more times.

- 54 have been available three or more times.

- 1 has been available twelve times.

That's interesting. Today's cache records as 199 for me. I had only missed 2 in Hawaii and I picked them up when they cycled back through and I've collected all that have been released in Alaska. Wonder what's going on? If there is one I might possibly have missed, I sure would like to know which it is. But there's no easy way to find this out.

 

I'll bet it's that blasted "Curvature of the Earth". Forgot about that one. I'm sure that's it. If that's the case, I won't collect it until after it's been modified by the team maybe.

I got 193 194, but i thought i got all except Curvature of the earth.

How to find out which are missing?

Heimi - Look in this directory (C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Flight\Shared\UI\Aerocaches) and it will show pictures of all the aerocaches you've visited. If there are two pictures, one a "preview", and one a "thumbnail", it means you've collected it. Right click on the one marked thumbnail , select properties, and it will show the date you collected it.

 

Sure would have been nice if MS had included an easier way to tell which ones you've gotten but this is the only way I know to to it.

I only have 191 so I am behind. Probably missed some in Hawaii as I was down for a week or so. I will have to check it out.

OK, i have 201 Aerocaches in this folder... but only 195 collected according to the statistics.

Whats wrong?

Does each picture appear twice? Also, does clicking on the thumbnail and selecting properties show a date?

 

Flight will download the preview pics of any new aerocaches whether you've collected them or not I think. But, the thumbnail shows up if you've collected it. At least that was the way it used to work prior to the updates.

 

I haven't checked mine but my log and Flight agree now on my count. Also, all my pictures have previews and thumbnails and when I click on the thumbnail as I described, I can see the date I collected it.

Nothing is wrong,

other than your expectations.

 

You've earned 195 of the possible 201 aerocaches.

 

 

 

A thumb & preview image will be present

for every "available to date" aerocache.

 

i.e.

Today 06/12, 201 each off thumb & preview files, (402 files total).

 

 

 

That is applicable whether you installed -

- On 28/02/2012 - And collected AotDs every day since.

- Today - And have never yet attempted collecting an AotD.

 

 

 

Thats the way its always been.
