FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Atlantic Skies Celebrates 20 Years of Virtual Flight Salt Lake City, Utah, December 29, 2012 – Atlantic Skies, the oldest continuously operational virtual airline on the internet, will celebrate its 20th anniversary on January 4th, 2013. It was on that date in 1993 that Andrew Phillips flew the first route for something he called “Atlantic Skies Airlines”. Atlantic Skies pushed the Virtual Airline envelope by introducing the first automated web-based pilot reporting system (AAMS - 1999). This was followed by the first automated, desktop ACARS system (AACARS - 2002) that integrated with Flight Simulator using FSUIPC to report directly to the corporate server. For over two decades this virtual airline has evolved and forced changes in the industry, and has continued to fly with extraordinary success. Though many have come and gone, this is one VA that will be around for another twenty years - if past history has anything to do with it. Hi Folks Happy 2nd. Birthday ! Especially to those of you folks who were beta-testers. :good: Was that really two calendar years ago ? Frightening, as it feels just like yesterday, since that Yeeehahh !!!, on realising FLIGHT RTW had been released early, (by a couple of hours only). I'd great fun that evening, & subsequently, attempting to reacquire my beta-period's previously earned awards, particularly those for the various Landing Challenges, where I was still struggling-away with HI31's sloping & bump-indented runway. I then progressed to the Hawaiian Adventure Pack's content, having a hoot again flying the LCs, my favourites being the RV6-A LC 5 into Lanai, and Maule LC 2 into Haiku in-cloud approaches. When the Alaska Adventure scenery pack was released I immediately felt gutted, realising the majority content's detail-level had been degraded to almost FS2004 levels. Enjoyed the challenges albeit few that there were, especially Alaska -Tatina STOL LC. Wasn't surprised at all when cancellation was announced shortly afterwards. Still love it when I launch FLIGHT, and task switch to whatever, then return to find that startup video playing. Brings back some great memories. I do miss FLIGHT's RTM startup video, and the original beta version's music. Wish we could access some of the unreleased mission/challenge/aircraft content. ATB Paul I've never felt so frustrated, died so frequently/spectacularly/or needlessly, yet had so much fun, in a long time. Flight's Landing Challenges FLIGHT - Earn your wings !

Hi Folks Had thought it might have been today, but Tatitna is a repeat, and tomorrow is Flashback Friday. If Saturday's 02/02/2013 AOTD is not a repeat, then it should become the 200th unique Aerocache Of The Day. Happy Hunting. ATB Paul

First, I apologize if this has been stated in the AVSIM forums already... if not, I'm glad to report it! As of this past Monday, October 10, 2016, Flight Simulator X turned an official 10 years old! Let this stand as a symbol and legacy for how well anything can age and withstand modern games with a little help from a close-knit community! So... happy birthday, FSX! :Big Grin: :p0502: If anybody has stories (10 years in the making!), feel free to share!
