February 2, 201313 yr Whatsa matter Paul? Didn't think I was going to post this? :LMAO: :LMAO: I went out of town and was a bit later getting back than I planned. Thanks for posting the AOTD for today. Thank you. February 2, 201313 yr What a great find Sergiosky47! Good work and keep up the great exploring you do. I have not figured out where the edge of the grid is yet. On the Pacific side of Alaska, the small Islands of St. Paul and St. George are there, but the large airports Gambell and Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island are missing. I'm sure Meshman knows why.
February 2, 201313 yr This was a very nice find indeed, and a long flight! Talk about a needle in a hay stack! I had to buzz the rig a couple of times but could not rouse anyone! It was a bit cold but I had to open the doors to get a good shot. Back on the ground at Barter I LRRS to warm with a cup of joe. Steve
February 3, 201313 yr You were cold, Steve? Get a load of this! Ice, ice everywhere! I had made a flight plan from Barter LRRS to the rig, then continued on to Aklavik where there is... nothing! Anf farther on to Zubko - more nothing. What else could I do but return to Barter Island? Talk about a long flight. Parked in front of the hangar. Let me in, it's cold out here! I love the shadow of the airplane on the hangar door. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
February 3, 201313 yr Long flight indeed. So long in fact that I decided to land on Herschel Island and spend the night camping under the wing of my CC. Thank you Sergiosky47 for finding this jewel and sharing it with the community. Also did you notice that this cache carried the heaviest points of any yet? 6K. Thank you. February 3, 201313 yr I wonder if this platform was always there or did MS add it recently for the purpose of the AOTD?
February 3, 201313 yr Also did you notice that this cache carried the heaviest points of any yet? 6K. I think I remember another not to long ago that also had 6K. I could be wrong. Steve
February 3, 201313 yr We had Aerocaches that had 10k. Which ones? Thank you. Rick $Silver Donor EAA 1317610 I7-7700K @ 4.5ghz, MSI Z270 Gaming MB, 32gb 3200, Geforce RTX2080 Super O/C, 28" Samsung 4k Monitor, Various SSD, HD, and peripherals
February 3, 201313 yr Author Hi Folks I have not figured out where the edge of the grid is yet.On the Pacific side of Alaska, the small Islands of St. Paul and St. George are there, but the large airports Gambell and Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island are missing. Low res data for all 4 top leftmost red squares. Hi res data for subset of, (sorry - I've misplaced un-pak'd data during disk migration, PANIC). Its always surprised me that I'd seen no comments regarding the missing Alaska content from 1101. i.e. everything W of Amatignak Island e.g. Shemya/Eareckson Air Station or Attu. I wonder if this platform was always there or did MS add it recently for the purpose of the AOTD? Mike - Certain the rig has always been there, (as per FSX, and probably FS9). Suspect there might possibly be a few more yet to be found. February 4, 201313 yr I wanted to try to slip the Cub down onto the helipad without disturbing the cache, but it popped on me on my first pass. I did manage to land there, though, eventually, which was a first for me. - Peter C http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bob_and_Ray_Show
