Orbx Addon Airports in the PNW region

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I find it is not always clear on the Orbx website, which FTX region some of the US airports are in.

So I am looking for a kind, patient fellow flyer who can confirm for me, which of ORbx's addon airports are within the PNW region only ?

I think I've identified these .......

Anacortes

Skagit

Jefferson County

Darrington

Concrete

Orcas Is

........ am I correct in believing that the above are in PNW? .......... And are there any others?

Thanks

Ok, so I did some more digging, but I am right > the information on the Orbx product pages for the airport addons is so inconsistant ....... some state "blends seamlessy into the FTX _ _ _ region", but some literally do not state which region they are in!

So it seems that these airports are in FTX PNW, which is what I am interested in :-

Darrington

Starks Twin Oaks

Concrete

Israels Farm

Walter Suttons

Orcas Is.

Skagit

Anacortes

Goheen

Jefferson County

Swanson

Monroe

Siletz Bay.

Now, these following airports literally do not say which region they are in, so can anyone confirm if any of these are within the FTX PNW region please? :-

2WA1 Diamond Point?

1WA6 Fall City?

S43 Harvey?

77S Creswell?

Thanks.

77S Creswell?

Yes, all of these are PNW region.

Hopefully ORBX will add region info to all their airports on their site.

Many thanks Bunkers. :drinks:

Greetings,

Actually VeryBumpy, the folks on the forums are extremely helpful, though they do ask that you list which products you've purchased in your signature.

Raul, the official Orbx web site offers a Google Earth .kmz file for each Region which will list all the airports in that specific area. Hope this helps.

Respectfully,

Brian

hope this help.

(note some airports listed here actually come with other airports.

eg clam habour comes with Orcas

eg walker comes with hobby

eg bear culsh comes with Cushman)

there a a few like that

Don't ask or bug them on their forums or you'll probably get banned.

VeryBumpy That’s neither accurate nor correct.

Brian is correct, people on those forums are quite helpful and support is excellent.

Raúl you can get the kmz file Flying Bob posted over here. Download it and open with Google Earth.

Hopefully ORBX will add region info to all their airports on their site.

+1, I believe JV already mentioned they will be doing just that.

Cheers.

Ramón.

Correction, this is my own kmz file (based on the original ORBX released kmz files - ALL of them), and might be simmalar to yours you listed, but mine include ALL airports ORBX, OZx, Ants airports (Aus), other developers, all sorted per region, for all ORBX regions NA as well as Australia. This kmz is one of the most complete sets ever put together, and all developers has been colour coded the same for ALL the regions, not like the ORBX kmz where there is NO consistency between their regions where one region airports is RED, the next region is Purple etc etc. At least if you see a RED airport in any region you know it is an ORBX PAYWARE airport and a green one is ORBX freeware immaterial if you in Australia or North America etc etc. The ORBX kmz files is a real pain in the bud with their inconsistencies between regions/countries. Also my regions have been subdivided in actual regions/states and are consistent over all Regions/countries - UNLIKE the ORBX one, where there is ABSOLUTE no consistency.

Example of short snipet of ONE region (Note not all was selected to be displayed below - you will see many checkboxes not selected), to show how I re-organised the files in TYPES/Regions/Etc, to have ONE proper CONSISTANT set overall ALL regions/countries etc etc .

pnw2.jpg

File also include ALL navaids, all actual airports, all Helipads, All scenery highlights, All towers etc etc etc.. Other regions like FSADDON vancouver Plus, Tongass fjords etc etc etc

For the above illustration I merely only selected the ORBX airports to show.

Unfortunately this one is a compilation/re-orged of ALL the original ORBX kmz files and other kmz files from other developers, that I am not allowed to share because of ORBX stance on copyright bull etc etc. (the biggest data set come from ORBX kmz files). Yes I have had my share of disagreements with ORBX management, so to get them off my neck and keep them off, I am not sharing anything ORBX, how insignificant, because I have found that that capable and cry foul over even such a thing as a KMZ file, (as the original did come from them.), So SORRY for not sharing at this time.

Sorry Bob, at first I thought it was the ORBX kmz file.

Yours is considerable work, adding all that extra data must have been hard work.

Also got most scenery you described, I guess I'll try and do something similar, when I find some lots of spare time.

Cheers.

Those are all in PNW. Looks like a short list. Look for Harvey S43 ( 2nd best of all) and Siletz Bay S45 (number one for me) and something with Falls and something with Point (across for Jefferson). Monroe and a couple more. I will check the list if no one does first.

My three favorites are Siletz Bay,S45, Jefferson Co, 0S9 and Harvey Field, S43 in PNW. Everyone has a different take on it so there are lots of favorites.

74s Anacortes is my least favorite airport but the sceney package has a great bridge and refinery so I use it for flying around the Skagit area.

I put this list together and it is almost correct. I have asked the general forum folks over at Orbx to take a look at it and correct as needed. I will check back for the accuracy and update in a few days.

3W5 Concrete

WA56 Israel's Farm

7S3 Stark's Twin Oaks

2S1 Vashon (free)

WA79 Walter Sutton's

74S Anacortes

S43 Harvey Field

0S9 Jefferson County

KBVS Skagit Regional

KORS Orcas Island

KHQM Bowerman (free)

2WA1 Diamond Point

1WA6 Fall City

77S Creswell (Hobby)

2WS Swanson

KCMW Cushman Meadows

W16 Monroe

W52 Goheen

S45 Seltez Bay

These premium airports tend to be smaller, local airports and are done by several different teams or individuals. Some are outstanding, and all are a great improvement. I tend to prefer the ones that cover a somewhat larger area than just the airport grounds. The later ones also tend to have the most ah-ha and Oh wows included. A couple have an extra grass strip included.

Thank you Ray (and others), this is all extremely helpful!

What I did not say in my previous post is that I have FTX PNW and also Darrington and Concrete, but want to expand the area. Darrington is my favourite ever airport for FS but I look forward to expanding and trying some new airports!.

PC Aviator has many of them on sale this month for 25% off. Buy them on Tuesday and get an additional 10% off. The Tuesday purchase date tends to pay the shipping and handling on the DVD. This is actually a better price than when Obrx had their notorius sale last year.

Brilliant, I get the PC Aviator emails, so will look out for that. Cheers.
