Excessive advertising from PCAviator equals spamming?

Featured Replies

If like me, you have received 5 e-mails in a little over two hours from PCAviator, advertising for their Ohio MegaSceneryEarth, just unsubscribe from their newsletter. So far it seems to work here.

I would agree that sometimes the messages can be deemed excessive, but they come nowhere close the definition of SPAM.

The "unsubscribe" link actually will remove you from the PCAviator mailing list. Try that with the "unsubscribe" links on most real SPAM, and you will find that it is little more than a way to verify that your email address is valid.

Ernie is absolutely right....but I do think it's excessive. They should have an option for "less" email. I remember signing up for a chance for dinNer with the president (yeah right). Less than a day later i had unsubscribed due to their barrage of email. "Would you like to receive less emails?" By then the damage was done. I said no thanks to anything.

I also think pcaviator treats megascenery as a different vendor. That may make it seem worse.

I don't mind getting e-mails from them in regards to sales or promotions. What I do take offense to is that the items they try to push are just the most terrible products out there. That thread here on Avsim "Regrettable purchases" is chock full of them. PC Aviator if you are reading this, put something on sale/promotion that someone actually wants.

"Spamming" is when you haven't asked for the stuff, don't want it, and they won't stop when you ask them to. PC Aviator doesn't qualify.

They do have some decent products on sale sometimes, although indeed majority of the stuff isn't.

Want to bet? I've never been to the PC Aviator site before, and I get their spam. Same with "FlightSimDealOfTheDay"

I say that falls under your aforementioned criteria above... (highlighted).

Yeah... they do... can't get off their mail list (and how did I get on it btw?).
