Yes, a repaint.

Todd, that's a beautiful repaint; Have you done any more or thinking about doing more?

I probably will, not sure yet for certain. Right now I am trying to finish up a final version of Delta as well as make a master template to make painting go faster with less headaches.

I like how the INS works, you can actually load an fsx flight plan and a message comes up asking if you want to update the way points inside it, beats the tedium of putting in everything one by one.

I am playing around with the specs; they certainly are different.  It has spec mapping but the way it is implemented is strange.  They are not the normal transparent (unless direct sunlight is applied), they actually overlay the textures even in the shade.  If they are not very, very dark it does not look good at all.

Yes, i suppose there may have been a problem finding the correct parameters/settings for the fuselage specular maps in the material editor... Things can get very hectic when the deadline of a model's release gets nearer and nearer...  F.i. there's only one half of the RAF Desert's fuselage textures that has a reflectivity map applied....

It's clear that a lot of time has gone into developing the model and all of its liveries which do look very nice indeed, it is not unusual that in the end something goes wrong with no time to remedy anymore.

I'm sure JF will take care of it as it really isn't that hard to fix at all. ( with the release behind you so you can relax and just concentrate on the problem at hand  B) )

Sure's worth a patch because it's the only native FSX L1011 we have and it does look very good otherwise. ( i just need more light on the VC instruments during the day when flying into sun but i think i can apply that myself )

cheers,

How did you get this to work? On mine, when I load an FSX plan it doesn't update anything in the INS.

I'm not sure the exact procedure, I started cold and dark, turned on the battery, switched the power reading knob to BATT from OFF, the one above the battery switch on the flight engineer panel, started the APU, checked everything was ok, made sure avionics were turned on, then, set the INS to NAV mode on the overhead to avoid the 15 minute delay, input the coordinates where I was in the CDU, turned the knob on the CDU to DSRTK/STS to watch the numbers 95, switched from NAV mode to ALIGN on the overhead, watched the CDU as the numbers went from 95 to 55, at 55 I loaded the fsx flight plan, and got the message would I like to update the way points in the CDU and voila, they where there.  I didn't know it had this function, was pleasantly surprised.  I did all this from the VC in a plane that was set up for INS not GPS in the configuration application that comes with the package.  I'm pretty sure default all the liveries are set for INS.  One thing to note, the knob on the overhead for the INS needs to be pulled out first before rotated.  Took me a few tries before I realized this in the VC, I don't know if that is how it functions from the 2D panel.

Good luck

Captaim Sim is Making a Tristar

  • 2 weeks later...

There is a JF demo version available to test with.

Fly the INS version of the L-1011 civilian airliner in British Airways Landor livery (the demo aircraft is limited to 2,500 ft and does not include the 2D panels).

Not tested yet.
