December 23, 201213 yr I know this one is super old, but I just recently got wind of it and damn it is very detailed and interesting. Normally I'm a VC/Track-IR/iFly flyer, but It's actually fun working with these 2D panels and INS (it's got a VC but it's not great). Does anyone else still fly this thing? I haven't even gotten off the ground with it yet; just starting to work through a tutorial. If anybody's got some tips or enhancements for this bird I've love to hear about it. I have the ISG gauges pack and I'm thinking of adding an FMC once I've gotten worn out on the INS.
December 23, 201213 yr Yup, there's a bunch of us still flying her. A great and complex add-on even after all these years. I haven't flown her for a while now though, not enough free time. Take a look at the Unofficial RFP forum here on AVSIM for all sorts of tweaks and info: http://forum.avsim.net/forum/282-the-ready-for-pushback-unofficial-forum/ Here's a list of all the stuff you can get for added realism and enjoyment with the RFP 747 Classic: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/255304-patches-for-the-ready-for-pushback-747-200/#entry1608224 I also posted a simple fix for the VC view some time ago (so that its not stuck inside the captain's seat), its somewhere in the RFP forum.
December 23, 201213 yr It's a shame that there was never an official remake or update for fs9 and FSX. The FSX version is purely a port.

There is no FSX version of the RFP 747 as far as I know - port or otherwise. You may be able to get the model to show up but the gauges and most of the panel (if not all of it) will simply not work in FSX.

I downloaded it and was dissapointed. I'd prefer to install fs9 and fly the proper RFP
December 23, 201213 yr I read somewhere that the developer never got paid for this RFP742, so he never put any more work into it. It was basically stolen from him somehow, I guess. I used to like flying it, but it didn't seem to work any more once I got a computer with Windows 7 64x. I may be mistaken, but I believe he has something to do with Flightsim Labs now. Robert Yunque
December 24, 201213 yr The RFP 747 is dated , but handles like a dream. Works very well in win7 64bit. Peter Schluter

I'd prefer to install fs9 and fly the proper RFP If you mean this one: http://fsdownload.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2153 I've heard of it before from here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/367607-rfp-747-classics-what-happened/#entry2318039 It sort of works for some and not at all for others, so I don't really consider it even a port and it doesn't compare well to the original. Making the RFP properly compatible with FSX would involve a whole new project and a titanic amount of work. Basically building a new add-on from scratch. Officially statements for RFP 747 FSX compatibility, consisted of the following: *********************** • Is this product compatible with Flight Simulator X? No, unfortunately 747-200 Ready for Pushback is not compatible with Flight Simulator X, and there are no plans to make it compatible. *********************** If you want to fly her properly you can only do so in FS9.

December 27, 201213 yr Still one of my favorite planes. One of my flightsim wishes would be for PMDG to do the 747-200, that is a plane! David
December 28, 201213 yr Author Agreed, I just love the way classic cockpits look, especially all lit up at night.

Just to clear a little bit of this up (as I used to help the developers with support for this product.) The original developers did initially get some monetary compensation for the RFP, however, the license to the product was sold by the publisher to another publishing house and no money from the sale was forwarded to the developers. (This was told to me by the publisher who spent a small fortune for the license) I speak to one of the developers quite often, and as far as I know, he is not working with FSLabs. There is obviously a lot more to do with this, but for the sake of protecting reputations, I think it's best that individuals and companies remain nameless.
