January 13, 201313 yr I'm thinking of either getting 3 x Asus PB278Q. Would an extra few inches justify the cost?
January 13, 201313 yr I took my triple monitor system down and went back to a single 27". I did this because the triple system just did not cut it when I wasn't flying.. If I were to set up a flight sim only computer thin I would go back to the triple monitor system. ~~ Dale ~~

What was the performance penalty going to 3 screens from 1? It seems from comments here it is substantial. % deterioration, i.e., if you had a steady 40 frames in single mode, 30 in 3-screen? January 13, 201313 yr I perfere three screens but there is a noticeable hit to performance. When I switched to sli that really seemed to help though. I would go with 27 over 24 if I was doing it again. I would also go with 1200 over 1080.
January 13, 201313 yr Either way, GA - you might look at upping the 560Ti, for one of the stronger gpu's. The 560 is a bit of a lightweight when it comes to handling 3 x 27" monitors. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
January 14, 201313 yr I run a ATI 6970 with 4x 27" screens, 3x27" forming a single screen at 5760x1080 and a single screen for moving maps. The actual configuration is 2xDVI monitors and 2xDVI converted to mini DP active ports. Once the hardware issues are sorted it's easy to get working. As Dale eluded too above, you can have issues away from FS. I run pretty much everything in Windowed mode, but on the odd occasion this cannot be done expect issues, ranging from things not starting at all to triple duplication across the 3 lower screens. Running at 5760x1080 has a performance hit, how could it not, this isn't limited to FSX, it affects everything that is run at that resolution. If it's any comfort i tend to hit the 4gb memory limit before my performance is adversally compromised. Ian R Tyldesley
January 16, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the tips. Quick question, would it be worth bothering to lug my 40" TV upstairs and plug it into my PC to test out FSX?
January 16, 201313 yr Honestly, you might consider going 3 standard 4:3 monitors instead of 3 widescreen 16:9 monitors because of the distortions that come with that wide a field of view. They are cheaper, and it seems that in some cases 3 widescreens might be a little too wide. Whatever you do, don't even consider going this route on a single graphics card unless it is 670 or better. If you run a 560, at the very least, get yourself another one in order to run in parallel, as waygo above stated--otherwise you'll be sorry when your FSX becomes a stuttering monstrosity.

I use a 40 inch samsung with track ir. it 's pretty good - airports shimmering more and harder to read gauges are the main drawbacks, I'm planning to try 3x27 with my new gtx680. January 16, 201313 yr Author I'm in a bit if a dilemma here. I have a nvidia 560ti atm. I would like to get the amd 7950 which is around £230 but I could get the nvidua 680 for £360 and pair it with the 560 I already have? Also i've seen some pics of a 3 screen setup and the stretching at the side looks awful! Not sure if thats to do with a specific setup or not?
January 16, 201313 yr As suggested consider 4:3 or 5:4 monitors, I have 3 x 19" 5:4 monitors (45" horizontal view) running at 3840 x 1024 on my GTX 670 4gb and it runs FSX or Xplane 10 with no issues at all. If you still want the widescreen you might consider "portrait" mode instead of landscape, just need to find monitors that you can flip to portrait. January 16, 201313 yr Author The Asus PB278Q I'm thinking of getting are 2560x1440 resolution. is that too much? Actually i think getting a 24" 16:10 rather then a 27" 16:9 might be better so i could see more of the outside in Vc view. I might get a Dell U2412M but not sure if the bezels are too wide. I quite like this guys setup but the stretching on the side looks horrible:
January 16, 201313 yr Here's my setup with 3 x 19" 5:4 monitors, 45" horizontal view. Not bezel corrected, so 3840x1024. It's Xplane 10, zoomed out a bit. Just another option for you to look at. Edit: Just noticed how the phone camera distorts the view, there identical 19" monitors, the middle has a black frame. FSX DX10, Turbine Duke, Cockpit zoom at 1.
