August 12, 200421 yr Hi George,Yes the inland water has a much different look but the main issues are that they have to work with the environment texture sets.It was Tom Main who pressed me to do this. To be honest I kinda gave up on getting inland water to look improved. It was no easy task.Tom is a real task master and wanted me to do the very best I could for the payware customer to give added value for money. We are kind of proud of the way inland water looks now but we felt it best to let the users find an "Easter Egg" and get that wow factor. We have opted not so much for a brown inland water, though we could easily make a set for you, but found a more dark olive green works better. This renders a very dark blue grey during clear skies and can look almost gree/brown in some lights such as fair weather or overcast. You can try out these areas. There are two inland water areas to consider. First in the river mouth areas such as the Thames into London, UK. Follow the river inland and it will go more olive and darker. Check it out in "fair weather" (FS9 theme) and also "clear weather" and you will see the changes. You will also notice very significant variations depending on the position of the sun.Having nearly given up on this I'm now very, very pleased with the results.Peter Wilding
August 12, 200421 yr With the freeware water textures you get a square patern when you fly above 10,000 feet and the default water textures show up making a square patern on the water. Will these new payware textures fix that??
August 12, 200421 yr What I would give to be able to do that.Unfortunately, putting white highlights on the waves causes some problems if done to the environment textures, i.e. the reflections. We could look at this as a possible add-on, (on the base bit maps) or free upgrade depending on the support of the customer and how well the FS water concept is accepted by the customer?Considering water is everwhere in the simulator one would have thought the vast majority of people would appreciate the very best that is possible to achieve with water.Tom and I have very good ideas to make the Water even better, at no additonal cost to the existing customers, by continuing to develop the product. It is beyond the scope of this forum to let out our "secrets" but it is engough to say - You decide as customers what you want. Buying a new product effectively gives funds to keep the product under constant development. In the long run we all win as a result. If white water options is wanted we can deliver. But it needs some work and most probably a good deal of work.Peter
August 12, 200421 yr Thanks OHN,The installer in it's own right is what makes it worth it to some folks. Press a button and of you go and fly. Please let us know what you think when you are up and running. We may have 3 customers by the end of the day if we are on plan! Peter Wilding
August 12, 200421 yr I was also surprised by the outflowing of completely baseless opinions. Thank you for actually purchasing it and giving us a true report. I just finished downloading and will load it onto my home computer tonight or tomorrow morning. I have been happy with every purchase I have made from FlightOne and don't even question the quality of their products... I know they well satisfy or they will refund. I have never even thought of asking for a refund because their products have always performed exactly if not better than they said they would.Zane Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
August 12, 200421 yr I'm not 100% sure what square patters you are reffering to?If it's the textures you are most likely thinking of this pattern is generated by the bump mapping bit map. If yes then this is not fixed with FS Water. It's the way the simulator works if a more pronounced wave action is desired.Having said this I'm sure we could do something to make things bette above 10,000 feet if this is something you want. There will most likey be a down side to this at lower levels, but the installer could work well here to provide choice, and easy choice to the customer.Peter
August 12, 200421 yr Thanks Zane,It was for the reasons you kindly mentioned that I felt FlightOne was the best choice to partner with.I'm confident with FlightOne's ability to deliver service and support and of their money back promise if not satisfied.Peter Wilding
August 12, 200421 yr >>just so you know some of the FS Water inland shallow water can>look almost black in some light. It's very, very dark to say>the least. >I like what I hear. In fact I flew recently on a commercial aircraft out of Dallas and looked down to see many small lakes/ponds ... almost black.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.

August 12, 200421 yr I think it's fair to say water has created queit a response. It does not matter if it is positive or negative, it's really about interest and it seems to have that?Hopefully we can continue to make it more realistic as time goes on?Peter
August 12, 200421 yr We are still working on perfecting this but I think it's 100% better than the defaults.still I suspect some folk will not like it much. At least there is an option to leave the default inland water in or out of FS water's favor.Peter
August 12, 200421 yr Can you control rivers seperately ?Many rivers look brown/green from altitude.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.

If those can be fixed then I might just buy FS Water. What do the sky textures change? From the photos I can not tell the difference.
