January 20, 201313 yr I hope someone can help me with this. Suddenly fsx won't load past 86%. I can boot up fsx, but when I select "fly now" and it starts to load the flight, it stalls at 86%. I tried clearing the cfg and nvidia inspector back to default no change. Please help so I can get back to flying.
January 20, 201313 yr Have you tried a system restore? January 20, 201313 yr You might want to consider doing a system restore back to the last time things were working. This always helps me in a pinch,
January 20, 201313 yr What is the last "Loading..." message displayed when it stalls? At 86%, it typically starts loading AI traffic on my machine. Have you recently installed any traffic add-ons?
January 20, 201313 yr Do you run FSX with high AI settings (probably even with an addon)? If so, you'll just need to be patient, 86% is, as "tymk" has stated above, the point where FSX starts loading AI traffic, so if your settings are high, and you are starting your flight at an airport with lots of other planes(/cars/ships) around, that can take quite some time. There was a thread about this just a few days ago. Best thing to do is disable any traffic addon or at least drastically reduce your AI settings to see if that is the cause. If it is, you'll have to decide, whether waiting for the traffic to be loaded is worth the time or not. I myself don't mind that at all, as I explained in the other thread, I just go over my route again or check the forums during the time FSX loads. If traffic isn't the cause for your problem, you can still follow Howard's advice and try restoring your system. I wish you success, Flo Florian
January 20, 201313 yr How long do you wait until you decide FS isn't loading? A friend of mine had FSX installed on a laptop and it took him 30 minutes before FSX was loaded [then he changed his HDD for a SSD and now FS is there in 5 mins!] If you think you wait as long as my friend used to do there are three "tricks" I can recomend for you to try: 1: go to the FSX config and change: SITUATION=C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\YOUR FLIGHT into: SITUATION= FSX will now start as if it is new, with the default "trike flight". 2 throw away the FSX cfg and have FSX build you a new one 3 start FSX in "kiosk"modus, save the flight as startup flight [this one saved my day in some terrible failures!] Ooh yeah a fourth one: i assume you start with the normal startup screen. Go to settings and turn off all addon sceneries and see if FSX loads properly. After that turn them all on, from within in FSX, Still won't load after this? Then maybe one of your newest sceneries is to blame. oop, 5: turn off Ai / addon Ai. Good luck and happy landings, Joost oop reads oops  any thing that moves, moves me

January 20, 201313 yr actualy before Santa came at the house mine used to take 15-20 mins aswell. Sanat brought in a velociraptor which speeded up things to about 5 mins. I guess it all depends of loading a lot of traffic and sceneries. sanat reads Santa. sorry Santa... any thing that moves, moves me
January 20, 201313 yr I had same thing some month ago, it was AI related. Did you installed or changed some AI Traffic? disable all traffic and try to load again. McDan out
January 21, 201313 yr I had a corrupt autogen folder that caused my fsx to fail at the same point, I Google it & came across a fix but can't remember where it was. <p> Paul Sleight
January 22, 201313 yr Author Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Oddly enough when I sat back down to apply some of your suggestions, I no longer had any issues. After two days of not being able to get it to load, it just went back to working fine. I reapplied my tweaks to the cfg and nvidea inspector and its running beautifully. With max sliders it loads in about 30 seconds and is back to running 30 fps steady. Thank you for your suggestions though. I will keep them in mind in case this pops up again.
January 22, 201313 yr If it happens again, try loading a flight with clear skies and see what happens. I recall something about a cloud texture causing this.
