Maybe a dumb question but why are the tutorials only in Europe ?
It shouldn't really matter where you fly. When I fly in the US, I use US charts, When in Asia I use Asiatic charts, in Europe...The usages of the plane however remains the same. A tutorial with the NGX landing in Innsbruck brings you one of the most challenging approaches available for a plane the size of a 737. But It could have been in the Andes as well, if there is a difficult approach for an 737. So It doesn't really matter where you fly, but you have to study where you fly to, to make sure you do it properly.

Prepar3D-ORBX warning that there are quite a few bugs to fix in Ver 2.5
The thread is named wrong: bugs in v2.5 Of course there can be some bugs in the sim, but what is meant here is that the folder structure of p3d has changed and therefore some addons won't install. This is not a bug, it means "a different sim".

Bad Performance in P3D 2.5
I'm amzed your system does not give you more fps. I do not know whether it's the 777 that keeps your setup slow. I have very good results with P3D 2.5 [also 2.4] and the MJC Q400. Reasonably high settings, some addon airports, Traffic 360 Ai flying about and I set my framerates to 25 wich they stay. Like VC10Man says do not stare at those framerates. P3D can run smoothly with 10-20 frames. The framerate counter of the FS-ses never was any good, If you want to measure fps you should have another program check it for you. Your driver is a driver that was messing up Runway/taxiway lights in P3D 2.4 I have 344.75 and it is doing fine with P3d 2.5 My specs: i7 980 at 4.2 GHz 6GB ram; 1TB at 4 HDD's in RAID10 and P3D on a velociraptor of 500GB; W7-64bit; GTX 750ti -2GB Your system should preform better than mine. Do you use affinity mask? For a quad + HT, I think: [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=63 [mine is 6 core + HT = 1023] This should do the trick= 1st core and 1st HT core off, other cores on including HT. - yeah I know some say HT doesn't work; but a PC does not run a sim only it runs a lot more plus many people don't realise what HT does. Did you turn everything up to full? Roadtraffic is a killer, while the ferries at sea are not. Autogen could be turned up since you have 4GB of ram on your graphics card and P3D is processing a lot of autogen on that card these days. You use powermanagement, is it an ASUS-board? Some Anti virus programms can be a killer. Try a freeware like Avast or Avira antivir just to test that. Are there any anoying programs running in the back ground? Well good luck, happy landings.

Bye bye FSX
the ctd's are caused by FSX being 32bit. You will have to reduce autogen, toad traffic etc. Allthough P3F is also 32bit, LM manahef to get some of the autogen to the graphicscard which reduces the use of the VAS [allocated memory] I know it is frsutrating that FSX does this, nut it is the way it is. Iff you want less crashes [virtua;;y none] turn to P3D. oops toad traffic road traffic off course

Where is P3DV2.3 better than FSX Dx 10
P3D is DX11, so you can't compare P3D with FSX DX10 preview. Cloud shadows and light through your cockpit in P3D gives you a tremendous sense of depth. Light effects in cockpit [especially MJC Q400] is amazing. It seems to me that people having problems with P3D and not getting the benefits might have a wrong videocard. It must be DX11 capable and LM says it should have 2gb memory.Flying in P3D with most functions on you should not aim at 60FPS. 20 will do very nicely without the feeling of being part of a slideshow. P3D is smooth and defenitly the simulation for me.P3D v2.3 is out now improvingon cloud shadows.

RYANAIR OPS - CROSSWINDS IN FSX
The 737 is a lighter plane than the DC10 and thus is more influenced by wind. The PMDG package is probably more realistic, thus the wind influence might be more realistic. The winglets version is more influenced by crosswinds than one without [note the handbook] If you fly Ryanair standards -don't forget to take some extra fuel with you ^_^

What am I missiing?
Okay convinced, a very small grey watermark. i will save me some money to buy a proper DX11 card [summerseason is probably the best time to do so - giving the stats] and buy the "amateur" - acadmic license Once it's running..... I will even try to get rid of the neat small watermark as well [please don't tell LM] Just like my video image to be very clean. B)
-
What am I missiing?
There's the Internet for you... one doesn't know what to believe. You Googled and turned up with a -indeed- very small and neat watermark. I googled and found a film with the P3D logo in the top right corner. So what is it?
-
What am I missiing?
Why did I see movies with a logo that is a globe with orbiting letters P3D?? That isn't the same as you say... is yours V2.0?
-
What am I missiing?
I have seen P3d 1.4 and a beta 2.0. The reason HDR, fog etc does not have an impact [like Noel says] is because other then "X" it uses the Graphics card better.MUCH BETTER, It is as simple as that. There are many graphics tweaks possible in P3D, from within the program that aren't possible from within X. I can't run P3d v2.0 myself because I will need to upgrade my Graphics card frits [because of DX11] But a friend showed me v2.0 I'm convinced that P3D is the future for us simmers. Forget the Eula -bla bla stuff. I'm no lawyer. We want to fly "as real as it gets" don't we? So just port over planes using that neat programm that is available and set up your 737 kite. The only thing I hate in P3D is the P3D logo in the "academic"version. They say it's small... small? My *! It's HUGE and it's awful, just like all those idiotic TV logo's, as iff I don't know what I'm wathching. P3D plus a new videocard makes it about $350 - something. [Euro's: 310 aprox] Wich is a lot of money in my opinion. But it might be worth it just to keep flying in a Sim that wil be updated every once and a while [but $140 is a lot of money for a logo...]

DirectX 11.2 TechDemo - New version of MSFlight ?
The guy says it's build by a Belgium game company, so no it's not Flight 2.0 neither is it FS XI. Besides that it's a demo. I remember the promising demo's of both X and FS2004. It means nothing.

FSX on seperate partition?
The main advantage of FS[X] being on a seperate partition [or preferable a seperate disk] is that when your Windows crashes you won't have to reinstall everything. By using a little trick with Windows, I've placed FSX on a newer, faster disk. That would not have been possible when FSx would have been on the same partition as Windows [=just 1 partition] To keep files save it is allways better to have more than one parttion. Eg.: C= Windows D=FSX E= reservesm foto's personal docs and waht not, This kind of setup saved the day more then just once, IT professionals do it this way with my companies laptop so I'm very curious why home users should not do it the same way.

How is this for a new rig?
jostytosty replied to uhntissbaby111's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcA friend of mine had made a new rig with SSD's in it. He had them replaced twice. So be carefull if you buy one of those. If you want to combine speed, storage, quality at not to high prices the WD Velociraptors is a very good choice in my opinion. It does make a difference using speedy disks esspecialy when loading this heavy "game".I use a WD Velocity [500GB] in my rig just for FSX, I use 1TB in RAID10 for the system [safe and fast] with ordinary HD's The clue with X is still processor speed. I've got the i7 980 pumped up to 4,2 GHz [watercooled with one of those neat small out of the box watercoolers - 64 C max in "X". Your system look very good indeed to me.

FSX quits without indication
oops Apple instead of Aplle With Quick Time came Itunes, something with an Windows/Ipad connection and other stuff from Apple. I´m not shure which Apple app caused mine, and my friends FSX to crash. My FSX on a PC his on a Highend Laptop.

The King is Back, and will regain his throne
The Base of the PSS Dash8 was the Fanda Dash8 which was a marvoulous expirience in FS2002 / FS2004. However the PSS DASH 8 for "X Wasn't realy that good. A lot of system simulation went missing. So I actualy hope the king is back in the sense that the Fanda DASH 8 is back in PSS / Majestic Software. A full pro version would be smashsing.

FSX quits without indication
I know you don;t like to hear this, but I'm convinced all the Apple stuff that comes with Quick Time causes crashes. Happened to me and to a friend of mine, Either uninstall it or kill all the Apple related services. Since you are an Aplle fan you probably won't....

Application Hang
Do you have QuickTime installed? It adds a load of rubish [allsorts of Ipod and Apple stuff- really bad Aplless so to say] and with me and a friend of mine it caused hangs of his Laptop and my PC. It is also good to check what services are running, rather then stopping your anti-virus you'd better check for virusses. Happy landings, Joost

Upgrading motherboard and CPU to improve FSX performance now results in FSX not loading due to invalid hardware or driver. Please help
I'm cracking my brain to help you solve this problem because i've seen it my self a year a go. That was without having my system changed [hapend just like that!] Your system is far superior to my second machine that has a copy running of FSX on Vista 64b with an ATI Radeon HD 3850 plus an older quadcore. What you can try is: run FSX from KIOSK mode [the exe icon is in the main FSX folder] from there save the flight and use as startup flight [if it starts of course] 2 You could add the following line to the FSX.cfg: [GRAPHICS] HIGHMEMFIX=1 ALLOW SHADER_20=1 ALLOW SHADER_30=0 Test it. If not then: ALLOW SHADER_30=1 3 Remove any startup situation: SITUATION=C:\Users\"your name"\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\"your flight name" [it will probably not be there because you can't get in] If you can get into FSX it self, try the DX10 preview mode and restart. If you can't get in to put it in DX10 mode change : D3D10=0 Into: D3D10=1 I do agree with one of the others that there might be a connection with Windows. If you didn't change Windows after updating your hardware there might be a problem there. Try uninstalling the card an have Windows "find" it. Hope any of this works for you. happy landings Joost

Any good FSX applets for Logitech G19?
jostytosty replied to a post in a topic in Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etchm, i would like a good FSX app. for my G15 as well. i was never able to find a real good one though. My g15 is now showing MSI aftreburner info sometimes I swap to Core Temp, but FSX info would be more fun.

Microsoft - the great enigma? And it's continued failures.
I agree with a lot that has been said about Microsoft. Aerosofts CEO's mr Kok also once stated that MS had lost sense of direction. They want a big slice of the Internet cacke but are lacking good designmanagement [in its broadest form] to do so. But let's skip MS it's not that interesting. Let's focus on LM. Personaly I hope their P3D v2.0 will be a 64bit application. That will realy improve things [i don't know if that's possibleat all] Secondly it would be nice if P3D [which also aims at the leisure -real world- aviator] would be an comsumer program in my opimiom a leisure aviator is a "simple"consumer] The next step would be for PMDG to get an eula coming with their product stating that the use of their machine in any Sim has nothing to do with the real world aircraft. Problems solved: we got P3D with the NGX to fly in. The note of the ASIM staff is very worrying. Who, how and when is decided what is to abusive and to whom? I always thought freedom of speech was important in the US, that discussions are ther to improve any of us.

FSX crashes after "exhausting" flights
Hi Dominik, Does Windows say "your computer has ran out of memory please start etc." I've sometimes expirience the same problem. long light, heavy model, heavy scenery. I've set back the cloud resolution of the addon clouds by active sky. Set back roadtraffic to 23% leisure boats to 25% lowered the water setting. Plus, I use the 4GB patch, to make FSX use some more memory space. I don't have many crashes anymore. Going from 1 high dense scenery to another can also be problematic. Windows and "X" try to keep as much in it's memory as possible, But a 32bit programm is only allowed 3GB.Thus there might be to much in memmory for the space available The affinty patch [i believe your AMD is a multi core to isn't it?] you don't have HT cores on the AMD so you should calculate a affinity setting for all cores minus number 0 core [the first core] If I'm informed correctly the AMD's overclock very well [properly cooled of course] may be you could cranck it up to something like 3.5GHz. This won't help the crashes but wil improve framerates. Good luck. Joost

Brakes
I'd rather have simulated icing, simulated snowy runway's / wet runways. Off course simulated hot brakes, exploding tyres etc.
-
Cannot run FSX anymore
Eventough it is not an Intel, de CPU doesn't seem to bad to me = 8 true cores with a reasonable speed. I suppose you used the affinity tweak, in your case, since it's 8 true cores the tweak should read 255 [=all 8 cores] or 254 =[7 cores, first core off, but play around with it a bit using the sientific calculator of Windows] When i'm informed correctly the AMD's overclock very well [but mind the cooling] maybe you could pump things up to 4.2 GHz. Use the bufferpools tweak: [bufferPools] UsePools=1 RejectThreshold=126976 [ //512K=524288//256K=262144//124K=126976//96K=98304 ] This will send more textures to your 650GTX But maybe you've tried that one aswel. Set the ai roadtraffic to something like 25 [it is very demanding] set water not too high, but medium or less. Turn of light blooming. Consider a SSD for "X" or a Velociraptor. 6-11 FPS seem to few frames for your rig, you must be able to pump things up. Don't give up, keep tweaking, keep flying! Joost

Shall I overclock even more?
jostytosty replied to ArjenVdv's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcpersonally i find 70C a bit hot. iff you want to overclock further i would suggest you buy a little better CPU cooler. The small watercoolers bij Antec and Coolernaster aren't to expensive and will keep your CPU cooler without to much noise. You will defenitly need that when overclocking further. [or aircooling by a Scythe Mugen] But having said that, it doesn't seem to me you need any more overclocking. When framerates are as high as yours - even dropping to 25 that still is very nice for this monster called FSX.

JS41 Pushback
Yes electrical power is where it all comes down to. I'm supprised the 'kite' doesn't have an APU though. The dash Q8 has one, and the ATR -like I said- has the abbility to have one engine runing without the prop turning. Quotes: "If I request a pushback with an engine running (with chocks, GPU, ... removed) what happens is that FSX registers this as a crash with a ground vehicle and my flight ends there Turn off crash detection, first thing everyone should do due to silly things like this ruining flights." reply: So there must also be a fault in the aeroplane's design. it should not crash having a pushback. I dislike the idea of turning crashdetect off and set every thing to: "easy". As I fly on a server with some guys i know, I can see some of them make "skippy-landings" which they think are normal but would make you crash with crash-detect on. I don't want to kid myself pretending everything is fine while doing things you can't do. Are you shure it is the pushbacktruck that's causing the crash? [shft p ] At LEBL I got crashes due to airportvehicles in which I got pushedback into :(
