The King is Back, and will regain his throne

Featured Replies

Many years ago, when I began digging deeper into flight simulation, a flight simulation company came on stage- PSS! As of FS2002 to FS2004, I marveled at what PSS- paired with Just Flight- had to offer  to the sim world...From the Concorde to the Boeing 777-300; from the Airbus 320- to the Airbus 340 series...ahhh life was good.  Considering it was  2002, PSS offered add-ons that were amazing and way ahead  of many of today's developers.  Then, around  2006, PSS fell apart (for whatever reason, I don't know, nor need to, really).

However, what I do care for and admire is the fact that the former PSS is back and more powerful as Black Box Simulations...And, what a come-back, with the Airbus Series..in plain 2013.  So, I ask myself if lessons have been learnt, and much better products are now in mind, will the King regain it's throne?  I have a strong feeling that the answer is: "YES"

--- I am impressed by the products they are bringing on and most of all by the excellent support they give to the customers- (always willing to help with no arrogance, or misleading tricks). And to top-it-off, they are making significant updates to their current products. They are coming strong; strong like a racing train. All this is good for us the consumers and lovers of the sim world. And, we welcome all that will make our flying experience an enjoyable one for many, many years to come.

Welcome back, King...Welcome back...And  we wish you nothing but the very best !!!   :im Not Worthy:

A lot has changed since 2006. The nice looking models with lousy aircraft systems (I seem to recall an A340 that when fully loaded would climb from from Vr at 5000ft/min) will not cut it the way it did 7 years ago. Hopefully they are up for the challenge.

Mmmm, someone has just found out that PSS are BBS  ?

I view things differently to the joy and excitement of the OP.   PSS closed their doors one night and from then on people who'd bought download products quite abruptly had no way of getting access to them.    At the time (around 3-4 years ago I believe) it was really quite a drama by FS standards!

Now the main people behind PSS are back as BBS, and are releasing their product line "Captain Sim style" (selling it before it's completed), which I am not a fan of.

I am not in any way enamoured by BBS or their A320 (which yes, I did cave in and buy).   To me it has too many similarities with the PSS products of c.2004/5.    (poor sounds, lack of immersion, graphics that fall behind todays standards).

Sorry to poop the party but PSS / BBS have always divided the FS community.   Many will disagree with my views here, but many will also agree.

Very well said. I cut my FS teeth on the old PSS Airbus and - as you say - at that time it was "state of the art".

It was a great shame that the company folded and particularly in the way it happened. But the quality of their work in those days has been shown in the way the forum here at AVSIM has continued and is still active many years later - to the extent that the old PSS 777 is still favourably compared with the latest FSX releases (PMDG excepted of course once they release). The same applied to the 757 and it's a pity the FSX 757 upgrade which was being worked did not get released.

The Prologue/Extreme approach understandably raises questions in some minds but I can see the benefits for a new business, and their use of Facebook seems very successful.

So for myself I wish them the very best and will support them - as I like to do with all new developers who move our hobby forward.

Risk of closure already.... lol.  All responses have been friendly so far.

I bought PSS back in the day too...when they were excellent developers.  I've not bought anything from BBS yet but might consider that 330 later in its development cycle.

Yeah, but... This particular company is like a light bulb to moths carrying some very bad experiences with them. I am just putting folks on notice that we will keep an eye on this one and we expect everyone to play nice.

Edit: And "king" is hardly how I would characterize this company. That's my two cents.

LOL...I clicked on this thinking it was about Majestic and tomorrow's Dash 8 release.

The Base of the PSS Dash8 was the Fanda Dash8 which was a marvoulous expirience in FS2002 / FS2004. However the PSS DASH 8 for "X Wasn't realy that good. A lot of system simulation went missing. So I actualy hope the king is back in the sense that the Fanda DASH 8 is back in PSS / Majestic Software. A full pro version would be smashsing.

any thing that moves, moves me

I thought Mike (of last week) was back.

That's exactly what I thought too    (feared!).
