Wow, sounds you've had a really bad experience, Tom... Sorry to hear this.

Not only Tom, anybody and everybody who purchased from PSS had a bad experience. They may be around a bit longer this time, until the money runs out.

Almost done! I waited too ling just because I didn't want to take off from work to do hospital rotations. I'm finally back on the box, crappy thing is that I'm doing a 24/12 schedule for 2 weeks to knock out the field portion. I'm looking forward to getting back on the truck, aback to my paycheck and my 48 hour shift and 5 days off.

General Zod is the real king......wait...wrong thread

I bought the fs2000 PSS 747-400 for my Dad who at the time was going through school at United to fly the 747-400 he said having it was a great aid as he could practice what he learned that day in class back at the hotel at night in fact he used it to practice up untill he retired in 2005 and still uses it to this day. Back in the day PSS was awesome and for that time was on the level that PMDG is on today seeing as somthing they made was being used by a real airline pilot for a training aid. But times have changed seeing as at that time Abacus was a top developer aswell.

I should think the single bold word under his "screen name" is pretty much self-explanatory... <_<

Regarding BBS,

I think there is a lot of potential, [personally I think it is always best to release the full complete product than 'pre-release' versions. ]

The current offerings of the A32X and A330 series have no competition at the moment [possibly until FSlabs].

They are a good bunch of guys who are so readily available to provide support to the community and the A330 is really very good.

Very well said. I cut my FS teeth on the old PSS Airbus and - as you say - at that time it was "state of the art".

It was a great shame that the company folded and particularly in the way it happened. But the quality of their work in those days has been shown in the way the forum here at AVSIM has continued and is still active many years later - to the extent that the old PSS 777 is still favourably compared with the latest FSX releases (PMDG excepted of course once they release). The same applied to the 757 and it's a pity the FSX 757 upgrade which was being worked did not get released.

But equally, look at the Just Flight 737-200, which is 100% made by BBS; and which - honestly - has to be one of the worst add-ons for the money, in the last couple of years.

(...)

Looking at this lineup of PSS- and BBS planes it seems to me like three different developing groups:

1) The old, well-known PSS (up to and including their 777 release) - pretty much the same "bunch" of people working together continously

2) Considering the 757 - with the breakdown of PSS, the B757, as far as I remember, had to be finished by Justflight inhouse development (correct me if I'm wrong here!). The 757 to me looks and feels quite different from former titles.

3) BBS developing the 732 for JF exclusively, but key people from the old PSS team are missing here

With some key developers on the BBS team different from those on the PSS team, I wouldn't say "the king is back". To me it's rather "The king is dead, long live the king!".

If the 732 was the new king's entry into his royal duties, let's see whether he serves his "kingdom of flightsimming" better during his ongoing incumbency ...

What happened to AVSIM

Someone here said that everyone should have a chance to redeem themselves.  My own view of that is that they were given a lot of chances to do just that, here on Avsim:  They could have easily apologised to the customers (myself included) who could no longer use what they'd payed for.  It would also have been easy to leave the product available to those who'd bought it.

For those reasons, I will not be purchasing anything with that particular logo.

These are just my own personal views.  I'm quite happy to accept they are not the views of everyone here.

Personally I couldn't less care what PSS did a long time ago, actually some months before I had even found flight simulation. So far I've been happy with BBS A320 & A330 and that's all that matters to me.

I also feel they have a lot of potential. I bought the BBS a320 and I absolutely love it. I know many people are skeptical of a paid beta, and that's completely appropriate, but I think some are being far too critical about this company without having purchased a single product from them - post PSS. To each their own. They have my attention, and the support is outstanding.
