August 22, 200421 yr Yep Laemming Wheeler and then him and Skunkworks, the BBS's and Compuserve forum...to do a 747 for FS4 you needed less than 24 polygons! (Not counting windows) ....And later for FS5 that DC9, wasn't it the first AC besides the Cesna to have moving ailerons and rudder? It was Magic back then...now we are all just spoiled!!!
August 23, 200421 yr I simply do not remember. I do remember though my first "big" download, which was a quite cool Concorde package for FS98, a whoppin' seven megs! I loved it. Took quite a while tho on the good ol' 33.6 KBit modem. *:-*I think I still have all my downloads tho, spread over a couple CDs and HDs, several thousand files within a couple gigs.Nice idea for a thread tho! Pretty cool. ;)Thanks man! And happy downloading all. :)Etienne :-wave
August 23, 200421 yr >>>Yep Laemming Wheeler and then him and Skunkworks, the BBS's and Compuserve forum>>>I used to hang out on the LINX BBS a lot back in those days. It was run by Joe Lincoln here in Houston. Both he and Laemming did fs work under the name "TEKMATE". I did a lot of testing for them back a few years ago.Mainly scenery stuff for FSWOW, etc...I talk to Joe every once in a while, but not in a few months..Oughta give him a ring and see how he's doing...Last time I talked to him, he had moved to a different house, and was trying to get his brothers ham radio going. He got kind of burned out on the sims I think. He prefers to tinker in other stuff, such as radio, electronics, writing code for specific app's, etc...I think Laemming is still doing some FS stuff, but I'm not sure. I took over the linx BBS daily chores from Joe for 2-3 years before it finally shut down. He's still got that original puter and drive, BBS software, etc I think...Was a mighty 286...Dang...Things have changed a lot since I first started in 1992. My first sim was fs4, and my first real puter a then fairly fast 386/33dx.Real road burner at 33 mhz back in that day...16 mhz was popular for a run-o-the-mill desktop at that time...I started doing some software in late 92 or 93 I guess...Mainly scenery. Some is still on the net...IE: ancient fs4 Houston, and Hot springs AR, etc..Also later versions.. MK Mark Keith
August 23, 200421 yr Commercial Member DF737 was the first thing I downloaded for FS2000. I had the boxed 767PIC prior to that though... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

It used the Weitek P9100 chip and at the time it was the fastest setup you could pickup, I used it for FS5.0 with the Mallard Sanfransisco Photoreal scenery chuging along at 4-6FPS! August 24, 200421 yr I absolutely remember mine. It was Alain Capt's Swissair MD-11 "the full package". I was brand spankin' new to FS2000 and had no clue what I was getting myself into. After reading ( and re-reading.......) the ungodly amount of material that was included, It became my baby. Alain's MD-11 panel is still very high on my list of favorites and is without a doubt the best freeware heavy panel ever made. The amazing thing is that he stiil is making it better with the addition of TCAS and weather radar(wich both work flawlessly) fo FS9!!I still am stunned at what he was able to do with this thing in FS98 and FS2000, with crew announcements and co-pilot callouts, autoland, GPS, ETC..... And I can't thank him enough for the way that this complex addon taught me much of the in's and out's of not only flightsim, but computers in general. Here's a cold one for Alain Capt !!!! :-halo
August 24, 200421 yr I had forgotten about Alain's MD-11. That was a great one indeed (sounds like it still is!). I also remember someone from South America released a greatly improved flight model for the default B737 with directions on how to fly it like they did for his airline. That was one of my early forays into the heavier iron. Wish I could remember the nameDavid
August 24, 200421 yr my first add on was the fsuipc, its predeccesor infact and sb and satco.....wow! on 14.4K all tect atc!!i was so excited those fs95/98 days...forget which one. Like a monarch I landed my c182rg at jfk under atc control!!
September 5, 200421 yr Just found a couple of diskettes in my desk's drawer with zip files downloaded from Compuserve, some from the Gamers forum and others from the Fsforum. The oldest zip file on those diskettes is going back to may 1991 and is called landin.zip with landing tips for FS4 as well as a demo file. Here is the title of the txt file:====================================================================== HOW TO MAKE A GOOD LANDING WITH FLIGHT SIMULATOR (Written using Microsoft Flight Simulator Version 4.0b for IBMs) By Rick Lee, FS Section Leader, CompuServe Gamers' Forum (GO GAMERS)======================================================================To-morrow I have to do some sorting in my attick. I'm sure I could find a few older files.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI

It was Magic back then...now we>are all just spoiled!!!Yep - the DC9 was the ONLY aircraft to have moving controls for quite a long time. No aircraft design tools were available at the time so EVERYONE flew that DC9 for months and months. It was in Alitalia colours but without any airline lettering on it and the only animation that wasn't included was for the gear doors - the designer had had enough by then. It had the Lear .air file so was a bit short in range although you could stretch it out to 2500nm (just) by careful engine and altitude management. My own first download was well before that - one of Russ Meyer's biplane releases (Fokker Triplane?) for FS4 back in the early 1990's. How things have come on since then..boneshttp://fsaviation.nethttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
